Granted injuries can randomly occur and happen during any matchup, would it be worth it to have a more mobile QB start against The Hogs? Toledo's O-line is very inexperienced and there is a 100% chance of opposing players in the backfield. Ely spent a lot of time and effort rehabbing his knee without the guarantee of another year of eligibility.

Either you are ready to play or not. Injuries can happen anytime in any situation. Look at what happened to TE Andrew Clarke. There are no guarantees in life. I would definitely want to take advantage of this opportunity to play against Arkansas.

Yeah. The Clarke accident was such a freak thing. A folding chair cost him a shot at the NFL.

He could get hurt against any team. The Hogs are not NFL players, probably 5 to 10 pounds heavier on average on the defensive side. The bigger difference is their O-Line. Trust me, none of these guys are scared. What the opposing fans and the newspapers say is farther from the truth about David versus Goliath. The players love it!

Ely will start, but look for Woodside to in, if the game goes south. We lose nothing if Woodside comes in.

It was an interesting premise behind the question. I have to believe that not being able to play Woodside at all in our "pre-season half-game" set things back a little, so while I agree that Ely should certainly start I wouldn't be surprised to see Woodside in for a couple possessions even if the game is close, and for him to see even more time if the game gets out of hand early.

Of course Ely starts. This is a redemption game for him. He will be ready. Let's hope the receivers have their game speed turned up unlike last week when Ely's "on the money" passes bounced of the numbers before the head was turned.

Given the circumstances... What circumstances? That we're playing our toughest opponent of the year, on the road, in the SEC, and we have a starting QB that is chomping at the bit to get one over on his old conference? Yeah sure, we have some nicks and dings (and a couple of numbskulls), but if you don't think that Ely isn't going to be leading the charge this week and get these guys fired up then I have some swampland to sell you. Win or lose, I think this is the week that Ely solidifies himself as a name we remember for a long time to come. Never say never. GO FREAKIN' ROCKETS!
