"Let's remember this...."
”Let’s remember this. We just played a hell of a football team,” Steckel added. “Let’s not lose sight of that.”

Never thought I'd see the day those words would be uttered from another coach about Tiger football, especially coming from where we were just a few years ago

Thanks for the link. There's also a second link for another story. That guy writes:

"Here is where it should be pointed out that Memphis is primed for a very strong season. They are coming off a 10-3 finish, a shared championship in the American Athletic Conference and a victory over BYU in the Miami Beach Bowl. And they are the preseason pick to win their division in the AAC this season. But …This wasn’t Ohio State or Alabama or TCU the Bears were lined up against. This Memphis team isn’t one you’d expect to hang six touchdowns on you in a half"

This guy has a lot to learn.

I really like the fact that Fuente still found a teaching moment out of the lopsided victory by letting the 2nd string know they have a long way to go.

Great article. It's always nice to hear the other teams beat writer perspective even if you don't agree.

I'd put our fleet of running backs up against those 4 teams right now. So yea, it might as well have been Alabama or Ohio St.

Tigers 5th nationally in Total Defense and Rushing Defense. BUT we have to consider the competition in this game.

Valid point. Let's win some more before we beat our chests too much. Gonna be a great season.

eh, what's he supposed to say really?

"Well, they <Memphis> suck eggs, but we are just that much worse...next question?"

I did. We've had respect in the past and I was sure that we would again. Our younger fans have no idea how many good football teams we had in the 60's and 70's. Bearcats#1, I remember the dark day in 1975 when we played poorly and allowed Cincinnati to win their first game over Memphis (after 11 previous tries). Our coach actually vomited after the game he was so upset and disgusted.

Yeah...TCU maybe...

Ohio State and Alabama...Not so much...They have some horses playing RB at those schools.
