The Bucs have only four players on the roster that have played in a college game before the start of this season and two of those are not able to play because of injuries. The Bucs also lost two OL starters and a DB starter for the MC game The two deep roster after two games, now has the equivalent of one college game of experience. We have played a game against one team that had 27 transfers and ran an offense that every team hates to play against, the triple option. The second game we played a jr/sr laden team that had won their conference two years in a row. Yes MC does not have scholarship players but they recruit in an area that has some of the best high school football in Tennessee, Maryville (15 state football championships ), Alcoa ( 13 state football championships ) and Knox Bearden ( 6 sate football championships. MC had experience plus their players have had two to three years in the weight room to develop and have their full offense and defense schemes in place.
With practically no experience the Bucs could have won the MC, but made freshman mistakes that will gradually go away with game experience.
The notion that the Bucs are slow and the coaches can't coach is pure nonsense.
Coach Torbush has been upfront on the football programs goal. To develop a team concept that would sustain a winning tradition for years to come. Coach Torbush has said he and the staff will evaluate the needs of the team and recruit to those needs in the future recruiting classes.
To say the coaches must go or the players can't play after two games is a joke.
The Bucs could have played a patsy schedule like some other startup programs and gone with a Juco mindset but those programs have so far not done very well in their second and third years.
I would rather build my house on solid ground instead of sand.
The Bucs are on the practice field busting their butts everyday to get better. They are playing a tough first year schedule, There are games on the schedule that they know their chances of winning are slim to none, but they are going to show up and play as hard as they can... win, lose or draw. The Bucs aren't going win a lot of games this year but they will in the future because they aren't quitters.
As fans we need to bust our butts supporting the Bucs. The fans need to learn how to be real fans, not bandwagon jumpers and arm chair quarterbacks. Do you remember the last 12 years with no football?
Everyone knew going in to this season that it would be a tough season and a learning season and that wins would be hard to come by. When someone on this board asked in a thread, "how many games do you think the Bucs would win", the answers fell between four and seven wins, with most predicting four and five wins. If the Bucs win four or five games with a near all freshman team, I for one will be happy.
Lets support the Bucs as hard as we can. These young Bucs need all the support we as fans can give them.
We have football back, we have a great band, tremendous student support, a sellout of season tickets, a new stadium about to break ground
and an administration that understands and supports athletics. What a time to be a Buc.
Can't say it any better than this.
