Oh, and FWIW, I have Temple picked to win the game... And I hope they do... In front of the sold-out Linc.

I'm sure you have access to our season ticket, multi-game and single game ticket numbers right?

Why be a dick?

You wouldn't appreciate the snide comments about ECU if you were playing another NC school in any sport, so give us the same respect.

How is that being a dick? PSU can draw 100k. I'm sure a shitload of their fans will show up.

Because you wouldn't appreciate the same snide comments about ECU if you were playing NC State (who averaged more fans per game than you).

Did you ever consider that maybe Temple people are especially excited about a home schedule that includes Penn State and Notre Dame? Maybe consider the fact that we could have significantly higher season ticket sales than usual?

There's absolutely no reason to trash us for selling out the first game.

Because ECU can sell-out their games even when they are not playing a Penn State or Notre Dame, while Temple has never been able to do so without playing a huge program.

Penn State sold this game out and you know it. Sell more than half of the Linc for a normal game and I'll start giving you credit.

And just to be fair, the same thing can be said of UC playing Ohio State at PBS.

ECU wouldn't sell out a 70K seat NFL stadium, and if they were playing a local school like NC State, they would sell plenty of tickets too. That goes for every single program in this conference.

I'm not saying Penn State won't have plenty of fans, but people acting like there will be 50 Temple fans there are being disrespectful. I'm sure as a UC fan you wouldn't appreciate the comments if you were playing Ohio State.

Just give us a little bit of courtesy, as we've sold a lot more season tickets than before. FWIW, I waited late to get my season tix and they told me the Temple side was completely sold out within a few weeks.

This is certainly the biggest game for Temple in recent memory. I hope the Owls do well.

Well, no f*ckin sh*t, we wouldn't sell 70K tickets. Only 21 teams average +70k.

And no one is saying "50 Temple fans" will be there. The fact is you averaged 23k last year. This is almost 3x your normal average. Penn St averaged over 101k. So y'all could have 50% more Temple fans there, and it STILL wouldn't even be half full of Temple fans.

So rather than being dickheads, just suck it up, say something nice like congrats, I hope your attendance continues to grow or something, and leave it alone.

I just don't see why you have to be ******** about it.

You're the only one being a dick there chief. You're reading into these comments way too much. It's just common sense that State Penn will bring a lot of fans. Sheesh.

RE: Temple vs Penn State sold out! 68k tix
The point is the game at the Linc is sold out and it's a Temple home game. Yes, it helps that the opponent is the state school but PSU did agree to come play the game. This isn't unusual, the MEMPHIS home game attendance spikes up when Tennessee or Ole Miss come in town. For the record, the Rebels do play at the Liberty Bowl on Oct 17, so we'll see how much of a spike it is this season.

Back on point. Give credit to the Owl fans for selling out their allotment, too. Temple is playing an aggressive schedule; that's not debatable. PSU, Tulane, UCF, Notre Dame, MEMPHIS, and UConn - nice home slate of games.

Go, Owls; beat the Nittany Lions. Get that opening win!

Should get another sell out for Notre Dame too. Think you can average 40,000 this year?

If ND sells out, and we average what we averaged for last year, we'd be just under 39,000.

That will be big.

Memphis, Temple, Cincy, ECU, UCF(maybe not after last night) will all likely get or have the chance to get to 40K this year.

Err, no on Cincinnati, they averaged 28k last year and their stadium seats what UH's does. Probably ECU, and that's it. Memphis could.

RE: Temple vs Penn State sold out! 68k tix
I am going to try and keep track of how the attendance goes. I am not knocking ECU but I doubt that they have ever had a home crowd of 68k.

It's my guess that the 68k that Temple pulls in for PSU and hopefully ND will be the largest home crowd this season for an AAC game. Say what you want but that 68k figure will officially get credited to Temple.

My other point is that it makes sense to schedule another state team if you can.

PSU does draw 100k at home but that's with discounted student tix, etc. They can't offer that in Philly. Matter of fact, it's much more expensive to attend the game in Philly that up at Penn State when you factor in parking, food, beverages, etc.

So my estimate of 32k fans for Penn State is a good number for a road game.

The other factor that I hate to admit is that the average PSU fan is not all that fired up over Temple like they would be say Ohio State or Michigan State. But if we beat the this year, they will no longer take us for granted.

Again, I hate to admit it but PSU scheduled this game thinking that Temple would be an easy warm up game for the Big Ten. Joe Pa liked scheduling Temple but he always insisted on a 2 for 1. He knew better than to take a win over Temple for granted.

So we play them next year for the last time. It looks like they will be adding Pitt in our place. Hopefully PSU will rethink things an add us back to the schedule further down the road... FYI ... We are replacing PSU with Rutgers on our schedule ... Yes, that Rutgers!

We played no games @home last year, Nippert was being renovated. We will have 40K for Alabama AM Saturday.

Barring a monsoon every other game like last year (ok, just 2, but it felt like every one!), we will definitely average over 40k. We're expectijg at least 45k for the opener. The Mississippi game will be approaching a sellout (59k) unless both teams get off to a bad start. Cinci and Navy should be at least 40k. Tulane and SMU will depend on how the season is going but could also be around 40k.

wrong

We played at Paul brown stadium last year. Nippert stadium seats 40k. They are 400 tix shy of a sell out (as of yesterday) for an FCS team today. Temple is already nearly sold out (that game is next week). We will be at 40k for the year as long as we don't lay an egg. Nice try.

Congrats it's a great opportunity to change minds. USF had over 67k for a game vs West Virginia and beat them it was electric.
