Goodbye Smurf
The days of blue Bucky are nearly over. A new Bucky will roam the sidelines Thursday.

I hope they get a real personality to wear the costume too. Have him really pump up the crowd.

Thank the heavens....I never was a fan of the Smurf blue mascots.

RE: Goodbye Smurf
Do we know that the smurf look will be gone? Seems like the last time they updated it, the smurf look remained.

I have no problem with that look, certainly an improvement over the old Bucky

Bring back the smurf....put him in a bow tie. That's the worst Bucky Buccaneer ever and probably the most expensive. Jerry Robertson's was a free labor of love. Sad....but I don't know which direction ETSU is going. They could make Bozo the mascot and I will be loyal.

There's only so much you can do with the pirate look and this is a massive improvement over smurf man. So happy we'll never see that creepshow out in public again.

Still looks a tad bit too much like the old App State mascot Yosef for me. However it beats then pants off the blue smurf.

I like this new Bucky. I would even support changing his nickname, if a really good one came up.

There are camps and workshops for mascots. I'm going to find one and offer to pay to send Bucky. 03-banghead

It's really hard to find someone willing to do it. Did they have student try outs?
I did the mascot thing in high school one year. Giant head, you can't see.

RE: Goodbye Smurf
There has to be a way to design a mascot so that the person can see out of it enough to move a little bit and interact with fans without the woman in a SoCon shirt holding his hand. And if you have to have a woman holding his hand around, why can't we find an ETSU shirt for him?

Having said that, I still like the look better than before.[/align]

I'd rather just get rid of it at this point. Whoever is in the costume doesn't seem to care, and it's not really adding anything to the gameday experience. Maybe if they got rid of the puffed up head and just went with a like a pirate Halloween costume the guy could actually see and move in, they could show more charisma than an invalid that just woke up from a nap.
