I was right there until you said nice beach. Myrtle Beach is, as a whole, a great tourist destination. But much of the beaches are filthy. I'm not talking about the sand ... but the water. There is no storm water runoff treatment. So everything the rain washes up and through gets dumped into the ocean. Oil, transmission fluid, trash, cigarette butts, ... you name it. That is why they actually test and monitor and post bacteria levels. And, particularly around estuaries, routinely ban swimming due to excessive bacteria in the water.
I'm not scared to go in the water at Myrtle because of the sharks. I'm scared of the water itself.
Protip: Head up Kings Hwy just past the state line. NC has a state park beach. You can four wheel and fish and go nuts on it. It's great. Fort Fisher State Rec Area IIRC.

What!!!!!
I've been a mod 3 years and I don't get that much. I feel a class action lawsuit, for discrimination in the workplace, coming on.
He went the extra mile in contract negotiations. Do you have hookers and/or blow to offer?

Your pro-tip is inaccurate. The best beaches on the Grand Strand are unquestionably on the south end in the Murrells Inlet, Litchfield Beach, Pawleys Island area. Huntington State Park is the nicest beach north of Hilton Head and Pawleys is a more quaint beach (less depth to it) that is rarely filled.
