I don't see it either. If NDSU was just a bit closer say Wisconsin then I could see it. If there were a school we really wanted in between that would help. Northern Iowa is close but sadly probably too small an institution to really consider at this point (though I have not looked at NDSU institutionally so if it is a smaller school as well then woops) and there would probably be a lot of worries about their viability at the FBS level long term.

Otherwise we are talking about the MAC almost doubling its size with just adding one school which really hurts one of the MAC's great strength's that has allowed them to stay at the FBS level all these years.

The MAC is hurting in tv market wise. They mentioned Madison/Milwaukee, Minniapolis/Saint Paul and Fargo tv markets. I do not see a Wisconsin or Minnesota downgrade from the Big 10 to the MAC. The only schools could be Milwaukee, St. Cloud State/Mankato State and North Dakota State. Seems Mankato State could expand on their 7500 seat stadium. If they have to? Could Mankato State play in the Vikking's stadium or Minnesota Golden Gophers until their stadium expansion is complete if they are being looked at?

Here is the stats for the schools.
Milwaukee 27,813 $201 M endowment
Minn. State-Mankato 17,993 $53 M Endowment
St. Cloud State 19,932 $17 M endowment
Minn.-Duluth 11,093 $130 M endowment
North Dakota State 14,747 $126 M endowment

Duluth might be way too small for student enrollment, but the endowment is big.
St. Cloud State have a small endowment, but they have a large student body.
Mankato State is in between the two, and might be acceptable within the tv market of Minn./ST. Paul.
Milwaukee would fit in, but their football if they do start will suck at first. The trade of would be North Dakota State's football team could help out.

UND has double NDSU'S endowment, raised even more with the latest drive, has existing MAC affilations, exceeds some MAC schools athletic budgets, and some how it's not listed. Not that UND would accept a MAC invite anyway, or that the MAC would even extend one to any school west of the Mississippi.

The much bigger prizes are east: Stony Broook, Delaware, JMU, and even Albany. Why look west except maybe for Ilinois St, and that's only if N I'll leaves?

It is reportedly leaked that North Dakota State have been talking to the MAC since Feburary to join as an all sports member. This leak came out After North Dakota State announced that they are going to fcoa. I am wondering who they might want to add from the west with them? Northern Iowa? South Dakota, North Dakota, South Dakota State?
They are also looking at a Minnesota school for a tv market and a Milwaukee market. Milwaukee have been for years looking into adding football? Could this be the year that they could add football because they will have a home in the MAC.

Which Minnesota school could be able to make the move up to FCS and then to FBS to join the MAC?

Plus with NDSU announced the fcoa means that somebody must be very interested in adding them for bigger money in a better conference than MVFC. This does sound like that the MVC and the MVFC are not as stable as people believe it is. The announcement could be this January.

There seems to be talks for some western and eastern schools to come in, but who in the MAC are on their way out of the door and who are coming in?

Possible eastern block of schools that could get called up to the MAC, but could split from them in the future are James Madison, Albany, Stony Brook, Delaware, U. Mass., William & Mary, New Hampshire, URI, Maine, Howard, Army, Navy and Fordham. CAA football could take a big hit.

Buffalo
James Madison
Albany
Stony Brook
Delaware
U. Mass.
William & Mary
New Hampshire
URI
Maine
Army
Navy
Fordham
That could be a new Northeast FBS conference down the road. Liberty number 14?

Lets say these rumors are correct which could explain why North Dakota State going to FCOA. North Dakota, south Dakota and South Dakota State to follow suit with FCOA? The four Dakota schools could break away from the MAC and join forces with New Mexico State and Idaho to form a new FBS on the west side of the MAC. That would be 6. Could they grab schools like Lamar, Northern Iowa, Missouri State, Sam Houston State, Eastern Washington and one other to go to 12?

The leak was almost certainly from lakesbison, who is one of the biggest douches on sports message boards. Don't listen to him. He also says NDSU and Montana are locks for the MWC if they would just ask.

No legitimate press reported these talks. Just lakesbison. Its B.S. He is constantly talking about how NDSU should move up and is harassing their President to do it. To my knowledge, he has been questioned and charged by police more than a few times because of social media statements threatening a legislator and credit card fraud.

I've said it before, UNI moving to the MAC would be the only way that NDSU would even stand a chance. And UNI is still a 6.5 hr drive from Fargo. Another 4 hrs from UNI to NIU. Just too far.

IL St. is probably a more realistic target for the MAC, if it were to take a move-up from FCS.

But then again, would IL St. and/or UNI really move from the MVC to the MAC? Not sure how much difference there is anymore between those leagues.

Agreed, on all fronts. You really have to be a piece of work to send an email, signed with a fake name at a fake address (because lakes didn't actually live in ND at that time), to a state representative saying that he will "feel the wraith" (in all caps), right after Giffords was shot in public. Moron.

Wouldn't surprise me if D.S. is an alter of lakes. Seems to follow him around. For example, look at the comments section here: http://lehighfootballnation.blogspot.com...ss-of.html

I never got this info from Lakebison or whatever his name is. I have been doing Google searching for coolege football, who is going to add football and all that, and so forth, and this came up when I was searching for info on NDSU going to FBS. I just happened to stumbled upon that. But, with the FCOAs, you do wonder if these schools are trying to position themselves to go to FBS. There are some D2 schools thinking of doing this so that they can be looked at for a D1 spot.
