RE: Cold weather stadium
Smart approach to dealing with the weather.
Sunken bowl to keep the wind off spectators .
Roof over majority of the seating.
Northern schools like NDSU and Buffalo among others might try a similar plan.

The Kibbie Dome roof will come off one day .
The sunken bowl is already there just add a partial roof.
Making fans more comfortable is important going forward.
Lessoning the bad weather fan experience without giving up on the nice fall weather.
Easy to dress for the cold late season games wind and rain makes it a lot harder to deal with.

I bet the canopy helps with noise. I've been getting into the CFL this year. Arena League's mismanagement has it down to just 12 teams ... and even they keep changing. There isn't an Arena team on the Eastern Seaboard between Philly and Jacksonville. WTF?

Winnipeg built the Investors Trust Stadium for the Blue Bombers a few years ago.

Originally, it's plans included electrically heated seats like Swedish model cars have, but those plans were dropped.

Really like the domed stadium in Dunedin, NZ. Not sure if the roof could handle snow though.

Sliding windows on the north and south ends could be an upgrade.

RE: Cold weather stadium
That stadium in New Zealand just looks like a nicer Kibbie Dome.

The Seahawks/Sounders stadium in Seattle has covering for 70% of the seats. And it's loud in there.

There are any number of European stadiums with cover for most of the seats (and the predictable effects on crowd noise), which is understandable given how often they play in the rain.

The KIbbie Dome roof is higher but it is pretty close to the plans to expand the dome.
The end zone seating is very similar except the KB domes will not be on the ground.
The New Zealand stadium has 25k sideline renovated KB 22k.
The glass is pretty cool they have natural grass in that stadium

Same here. Even Canadian football is better than no football.

I seen some plans for North Dakota's future twenty five thousand seat stadium.

A smaller version of this one would be ideal.
The awning I'm not sure about but the sunken bowl is a cheaper way to go.

UND had their first practice in their new indoor 300 m oval. Was raining and lightning outside today. Track oval isn't installed yet, but recruiting has already picked up. It stands next to old Memorial Stadium, which is rumored to be remodeled and expanded.
