Travel Partners
Serious Question: Why do schools care so much about travel partners? If you are within a footprint of a conference and not a crazy outlier why does it matter?

RE: Travel Partners
App not having a travel partner, specifically in basketball, means every team coming to their house is coming off a bye this year I believe, whereas they the home team are getting back from a two-city road trip.

Even more serious observation, don't accept PrisonMike's invitation to be a "travel partner"!

The travel partner is not necessarily for App's benefit, but for the other schools. If App doesn't have a "travel partner" then the visiting teams have to make a trip to Boone and only play App. Whereas, if there was another SBC school relatively close to App, visiting schools could play both in one trip--essentially killing two birds with one stone. The travel partner is for the other schools.
There's only a handful of App posters who rant about travel time/distances on here, but some posters on here like to generalize all App posters (and App's administration) together as being whiny about travel.
I actually only clicked on this thread because it was started by "prisonmike," but I was disappointed to not see a Prison Mike avatar. Feel free to use the one below:
