College Football Player Arrest Records
Sports Illustrated writer Mike Rosenberg recently compiled a list of football programs with the most player arrests over the past 5 years. If I were a big time d-1 recruit and saw these statistics, I would stay away from this "top 25" school list. This has to be hurting A&M in recruiting

Darn, another football list that Rice can't seem to crack the top 70 on! 05-stirthepot

CUSA however, is well represented by Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky, North Texas, and USM sneaking in at the end.

And of the old SWC, only Rice, UH, and SMU are not on the list. I even included Arkansas, with Texas, A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, and TCU.

I don't consider UH a perennial Top25 team, and BYU is marginal.

So here is my question, do you think Houston Chronicle writer Brent Zwerneman ("On the Aggies") will bring this information to the powers that be at TAMU, ask for comments and write a column about A&M's horrendous football student athlete arrest rate? My guess is no.

Not so fast. Ohio State is 27 on the list and UH now have the Ohio State coaching. Lets keep an eye on them :)

and UNT at #60 and Southern Miss lagging behind at #65

I have to wonder if some schools aren't saved by the fact that crimes may have been committed at other schools prior to enrollment at their current institution?

RE: College Football Player Arrest Records
Well, this morning I received an answer to my previous question. The Chronicle's Brent Zwerneman has a front page article in the Houston Chronicle about the Aggies hiring a "Life Coach" to provide life skills beyond football, citing the number of player arrests that have occurred with the Football team during 2014 (http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/hou...id=btfpm). My guess is that TAMU's PR department floated the story idea to get in front of the issue and spin it in a manner that minimizes the downside narrative of the number of player arrests at the university.

That is a smart move by Texas A&M and a reasonable angle for a writer to explore by Mr. Zwerneman. He did not shy away from mentioning the problems that the Aggies had with some of their recruits while noting the trend of this type of hire at many universities.
