We complain about the schedule, but when you get to the tournament to knock off a 3 seed, undefeated in your home town in 2015, and only lose 1 player... teams don't line up to play you.

THIS
THAT

is no way to get good crowds to Bartow (with the needed revenue) and winning the tournament may be the only way for UAB to now make the dance with the weak new CUSA (over 50 percent cupcakes).

I know I don't make the schedules but why not add a couple of good basketball schools around the area instead of playing crowd bombers like Seattle, USC Upstate, and Hiwassee. I know it's okay to play one small game to let the guys get a cupcake win but why not throw in a Mercer, or Belmont, or heck even Alabama A&M. These games are going to destroy RPI.

This has to be the biggest crock of chit I've read on this site since a couple of hours ago.

Those games are around the holidays. The crowds will be bad no matter who we play. I'm not sure who you have in mind to play, but USC Upstate and Seattle are most likely better teams than any other teams we could play in the area. We are already playing quite a few state schools.

+1
Seattle & USC Upstate are descent games. They were pretty good in their leagues. I initially thought they were major cupcakes until I did research.

We never actually played Houston Baptist. Maybe you were thinking of Missouri Baptist.

Maybe. There was also Baptist of South Caolina.

RE: Men's Basketball Schedule
Seattle had an RPI of 280 last year. Stop trying to sell them as a good game.

Here's the real question you need to ask about our schedule, how many games will we have to win to get an at large bid? I'm thinking something in the neighborhood of 27. Not good.

The key will be not how many we win per say but how many we lose and who do we lose to? We just cant have the WTF losses. This is a year we could be back to two bids in this league.

RE: Men's Basketball Schedule
Yea we will have to win at least 25 im thinking. But like attalla said its all about avoiding the terrible losses that we've accrued the past few years. I don't think auburn is a must win necessarily, but it'll tell me a lot, especially about how we play on the road. We've been pretty bad on the road the past couple years

Not trying to sell them. Just pointing out it is a better game than a some other options.

My first thoughts on the home schedule was 03-puke. I will have to do some research on the teams as well. But definitely no "name teams" on there.

Well hell, in that case let's start talking up Alabama state too. They finished ahead of Seattle last year. Any school outside the top 200 is not worthy of talking up at all.

Amazing, Seattle university and Hiwassee smh could've played at samford, tulsa, or ecu. These are the type of games where we could've got a well traveling power 5 in Legacy Arena or something the likes of gonzaga, uconn, or Louisville. Might have to play those two teams at Bill Harris to make it look like a sellout.

Everyone plays some cupcakes. I am no fan of non-DI opponents but I'll be at those games. We have a descent schedule. Next year we have Auburn and USF at home and are currently trying to get a home and home with another SEC and an ACC school. One may start in Birmingham.

How long was the USF series for?

I hope we can continue with Illinois state. Teams like that and Stephen f Austin please me. I'd like us to find 3 or more games similar to that in place of the consistent 250+ rpi teams.
