ETSU playing with 97 freshmen. An excuse? No, a reality, and they fit the classic freshmen profile. ETSU building for 2016 while Kennesaw had to build for 2015 since they're headed straight into conference play. Was it a mistake to schedule them for the first game? Maybe best to take a whipping early to get things in proper perspective and provide motivation to get to work on a new level.

Can we drop our game with them next year, and replace them with someone easier?

Keep them but find a different opener. They're gonna have to get some Transfers and jucos.
Still very proud of how hard they're trying to play.

lol next year ETSU is going to be in the SoCon. If they aren't good enough to play KSU they aren't going to be good enough to play a SoCon schedule.

Very proud of our guys effort tonight! Kennessaw is just much more experienced. My question is, why didn't we also pursue juco's and transfers? I mean Kennessaw has a redshirt junior from South Carolina for gods sake.

Just be prepared tomorrow and the next few months the anti-football crowd and JC Press are going to eat up the "I told you so" junk. So don't read the paper tomorrow. First half was good, but second half was unbearable. Reminds me of 2013 Purdue team that only barely 1 game of Indiana State 20-14. Still this is a freshman team and has a long way to go to be consistently good. Still a great day to be a Buc fan, as football has returned, but crowds may look more sparse now.

3 years from now ETSU is going to have a solid foundation, 3 years from now KSU is still going to be caught up in the cycle of trying to bring in transfers/JUCOs.

We should have kept Herink in the entire game. I told you 2-QBs never works.

From days of old, are there too many local nice guys? Hey, they don't play high school football in NE Tennessee like they play high school football in most of Georgia. Maybe Torbush needs to get with Forbes and copy his plan for this next recruiting cycle -- round up a bunch of experienced college players. Boy, that honeymoon ended before it got started.

ETSU didn't win the national championship tonight so let's go ahead and jump off the bandwagon dammit before we're any more disappointed. Message boards aren't a good place to find rational thinking but come on man. It's a freshman team. It's going to be a tough ride at first. Let's try making it through a few more games before throwing in the towel for next year.

This wasn't simply youth. KSU was simply more talented. ETSU has to recruit outside of a 150 mile area. I feel for you guys. KSU has an upper hand due to location, etc..

As for the game, we were completely outmatched tonight. Offense, defense, and special teams. I am most worried about our defense, we looked like a Southern Conference team playing an SEC team on defense- except this isn't an SEC team. I'm not exactly sure how to put it into perspective and we probably won't know until the end of the season. The Mercer contest will be interesting. The only sure thing that I got out of this game was who the best quarterback is. Herink needs to be the starter for the rest of the season.

Yes after Sexton went in everything went down hill.

It's a great evening when only one thing goes wrong.

I feel like tonight was a blast of realism when it shouldn't have been.

Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting. Got to recruit speed. It was the issue then, hope it's not going to be the issue again. Torbush is supposed to know these things; he's been there, seen that, done that. And, I agree. From what I saw on defense, ETSU beat the hell out of themselves by not playing fundamental football. Tackle after tackle was missed even when the runner was surrounded and hit several times. The defense played their positions, just could not tackle. They got to go to work on fundamental football, especially on defense and the O line.

KSUs QB had a different gear than anyone we had. Herink looked good and I liked what I saw from Stinson. Oh well.
