RE: NFL/Fantasy Football Discussion
I saw the moved broken down to suggest that NY basically gave up three 2nd-round picks for Mo Wilkerson and the the #3 pick. Seems solid to me.

They gave up their number 1 too

They swapped picks, yes, but they only gave up three second round picks to pick up what they hope is their franchise QB...worth it!

They moved up three picks, gave up 4 after already spending 25 mil on two other qb. That has to factor into the equation here

meh, McCown and Bridgewater are both on one-year deals. If Rosen or Darnald are franchise QBs it will be worth what they gave up and more. If they swing and miss on QB, this front office is gone anyway. I don't follow the Jets, and I don't know their personnel, but I know they don't have a QB. Seems like a solid move to me.

It really doesn't. $25M is nothing when it comes to QB's. Especially on one-year deals, when the Jets are projected to have over $100M in cap space next offseason.

What did the Bears pay Mike Glennon BEFORE trading a boatload to move up ONE PICK slot and take Mitchell Trubisky?

What did the Eagles pay Sam Bradford before giving up a king's ransom to get Wentz?

Paying 1 guy is much different than paying two. One guy on a short deal makes sense as you have a stop gap. But paying 2 ? That makes ZERO sense.

And as I said earlier, the McCown signing made little sense. But it's really not a big deal. They're likely planning to cut Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg anyways.

From hearing Kiper and others talk, it sounds like they may have not been convinced, Signed Teddy, attended these QB's pro days and were impressed enough to make the move.

I still it was way too much IMO, but, only time will tell.

You should talk to some Bills fans. They're livid that the Jets moved up.

I don't particularly care what other Jets fans are saying. Dumbest fanbase in America.

Most of me thinks they’re doing it just to block the Bills at this point.

Partly, I'm sure. It's pretty cost prohibitive to move up to 1 or 2 at the moment. Word is the Jets did their due diligence in looking to move up with either of those teams, and the price was wayyyyy too high.

I don't see any reason for the Browns to move down from 1 unless they really think they can get the guy they're targeting at 4. The Giants could definitely move, but it'll take a lot, and that will be the case right up to them being on the clock.

So making a move to lock in the 3rd pick at a reasonable price made a lot of sense. And the Jets still have their 2019 first rounder if they want to try to move up again.

Yep. Even as a Bills fan I can see the logic in it and it being a good move for the Jets. I like Brandon Beane a lot, and I think so far he's made some really good moves for the Bills. Not going high enough up the board to get one of the best available QBs concerns me though. We just traded one of the best QBs in the game in terms of taking care of the football. Now we have AJ McCarron and Nathan Peterson on the depth chart at QB. That's a massive step back for a team that just went to the playoffs for the first time in 17 years, IMO. Like I said though, I like and trust Beane so far. I'm not nearly as sold on McDermott though. All I've seen for the last year is the Bills shedding star player after star player, and not a ton of return. Just a bunch of picks. Seems like things are about to get really good or we're going back to the playoff drought ditch in a hurry.

The good thing for both of our teams though, is that we are nearing the end of Tom Brady and Belichick. I'm starting to believe we have 1-2 more years of them to deal with and the AFC East will be wide open for the taking again and even out.

It's very hard to trade up from where the Bills were positioned all the way to one of the top 3 picks.

One of the reasons the Colts dealt with the Jets was so Indy would only drop down to 6, where they can still get an impact player.

Dropping down to 12 would not have been preferable, so any deal with the Bills would likely have required an enormous package of picks.

In essence, making the playoffs put the Bills in a tough spot. But they still might move up to 1 or 2, guaranteeing them they'll get one of the elite guys (Rosen or Darnold). Still very early in the process, and they could very well end up looking like the smart ones when all is said and done.

The Giants shopping OBJ for two first round draft picks???

They’re nuts. Not a team out there coming close to giving that up for him.

Nah, they're just letting teams know they need to bring a serious offer to the table to have a chance.

I'm sure if the Browns came in and offered the # 4 overall pick for Odell and nothing else, the Giants would take it.

That trade would be insane for both teams, btw.

Browns end up with a trio of WR's of Odell, Josh Gordon, and Jarvis Landry. Potentially a psychotic trio, but incredible talent to pair with Tyrod Taylor and whichever rookie QB they take at # 1 (Darnold or Josh Allen).

Giants end up with # 2 and # 4, which they use on one of the QB's that drops to them (Darnold or Josh Rosen), and at 4, take Saquon Barkley.

It doesn't matter who they have running, they need to upgrade that O line. Soldier will help, but they need more.

Of course. But free agency isn't over, and they'd have other draft picks. O-linemen can be found outside of the 1st round.

The NFL Draft is finally here!! Bills think they have the ammo to move up to # 2. Josh Allen's tweets at age 12 causing a stir. The Browns (and everyone else) seem to love Baker Mayfield, but it could all be a smokescreen.

Gonna be awesome!

I'm excited to see what the Bears do at 8. I'm hoping Mayfield goes 1st, and that 4 QBs go in the top 5...should leave Chicago with an excellent chance to get Chubb, Nelson or R. Smith. Chubb is unlikely, but I'd be happy with either of the other two.
