Really sorry to hear all this. Must be very difficult for the Charlotte family. Life is too short, make the most of every day.

Prayers to the family.

Hate to see things like this. Way too young. Condolences to the Herd and Niners.

RE: Coach Ratliff passes at age 44
I was listening to WVMetroNews, a radio station all about WV the other day. They have a weekly segment with Chuck McGill a writer the Charleston Gazette Mail. McGill was the Marshall beat writer for several years. He started talking about Phil and the last conversation he had with him.

He said his last conversation was at or right before media day this year. He said it was basically just how is everyone and casual conversation. As McGill was getting ready to leave he said Phil looked at him and told him if he or the Huntington community needed anything just holler at him. As country as Phil was I can hear that coming from him.

Without thinking Chuck said back almost the same thing, thinking at would be the end of the conversation. And he said about the time he got it out of his mouth, Phil took him up on his offer. He said he told McGill when the time come that McGill could write positive stories about him to help him get the Marshall HC job.

Being HC at Marshall was his ultimate goal in coaching. Had he lived I think he would have had more than a decent shot at getting the HC job at Marshall.
