They sent him a replacement diploma with the correct spelling & to this day he still has both diplomas hanging on his office wall. Ironically it was VP Dan Quayle who gave the commencement speech.
BTW: the best Navy teams since the early sixties were the teams coached by George Welch. Those teams had some Bad A*s players!

That was the class of 1990 that had the misspelling. I'm pretty sure that none of them gave the incorrect ones back.

The commencement speaker for the class of 1991 was Army Gen. Schwarzkopf (West Point class of 1956) right after Operation Desert Storm.
Yeah, you right brah!

Cool story bro.

This could be the best Navy team since Paul Johnson returned to Navy to lead us back from the wilderness. This program has been steadily building to this point. If the QB remains healthy, Navy's first AAC season could be epic. Navy enters the AAC from a position of strength. Standby to be surprised.

We are probably also deeper with talent than Navy has ever been. Obviously this is a relative scale, but our recruiting has been lights out. I think that we are in a position that we have not been since at least the early 60s if not longer.

I toured the Annapolis when I was a teen. Absolutely amazing place. Makes you proud to be an American. I'm just putting yall on. I do hope we beat the snot outa them though.

It's very hard not to cheer for any of the service academies.
