If UAB has to play in Legion Field for the next 5 to 10 years it will.
It eventually needs to be replaced, yes. First has to be practice facilities and offices. I know you're aware our current "operations" building is like a 75 year old dentist office.
See "eventually" isn't going to work for me because I believe many UAB supporters will become content with Legion Field as long as:
1. UAB maintains football.
2. Attendance is between 20-25,000
3. IPF and offices are built.
It's not fair for players to not have hot water after games and have to be bused back to campus. And that's just one issue. There has to be some plan in place for an OCS to be built in the next 7 years for me to throw my full support behind football.

There won't be football if you wait 7 years to support it.
Don't know if this was reported elsewhere, but UAB freshman kicker Nick Vogel who transferred to USM in December has returned to UAB. NCAA allowed him to return without penalty and we got our scholarship back.
* Clark wants exhibition games in 2016. Petitioning the NCAA.
* Players can petition the NCAA to have 2015 and 2016 not count toward their eligibility.
* 19 schollys to give for 2015, 25 in both 2016 in 2017. Expects to be around 75 by 2017 kickoff.
* Could be allowed a few extra scholarships and/or recruiting visits to catch up
So I will say this, it has been said that UAB Football needs to be brought back the right way. When facilities are mentioned, an OCS needs to be part of that. Our city business leaders seem to understand this. I'm not sure are hardcore UAB fans understand.
UAB Athletics has enough obstacles in its way to becoming successful, an OCS shouldn't be an obstacle and nor should it be something pushed 10 to 15 years down the road. If UAB fans want football 7 years from now, then we need to make sure an OCS (not a City MPF) is included in plans to bring the football program back the right way. An OCS ensures UAB Football is here to stay whether it be FCS or FBS.

That doesn't seem fair (to the other schools).
In any event, at this point there can't be many considering that, right?
Start rallying support now for opening night in Birmingham. If it's at Legion Field, aim to get the place sold out for the return of UAB football. With all the drama, all it would take is heavy marketing and people will come. That's a great way to grow your fan base. Go UAB!

It's going to take smart and aggressive marketing, not heavy marketing. UAB Football isn't going to sellout Legion Field in its first game back. It's a 70,000 seat stadium. But let's say it did sellout 70,000 the 1st game back, then you would have to deal with unrealistic expectations and questions as to why you got 70,000 for the 1st game and only 23,000 for the 2nd game?
Support will be there but not in form of a sold out Legion Field. But in commitments made to facilities upgrades, a commitment from UAB Administration, and commitments from the business community, and the City of Birmingham embracing UAB Athletics.

the other schools get the scholarship back
That would help some, but it still seems unfair to the other schools. I doubt it'll matter much. Surely most that transferred won't come back.

It wouldn't make sense for them to transfer being that UAB isn't starting football until 2017.

It would make sense if their heart is with Bill Clark and UAB. It would make sense if a kid wanted to be something in the medical profession. Most of these kids will not play pro ball but still want to be a professional in their field of choice.
Not fair? Right now all of you have 85 scholarships and walk-ons. We have maybe seven guys. I really don't want to hear what's not fair. C-USA needs a strong UAB in 2017 pulling good attendance. Not a weakling pulling 7,000 a game. UAB was sabotaged and had it's legs chopped out from under them. Hopefully we will see some justice soon and some people in jail.

Amen to all of the above. If any of our UAB transfers wanted to go back to UAB I would wish them well. What good would it be to have guys on the team who aren't happy at USA when those schollies could go quickly to others who would be?

And it would make sense if they shared the burning hatred of Ray Watts, Paul W. Bryant Junior and their cronies held by the rest of the students and alumni.
Watch this video. Watch every agonizing second of this arrogant little pumpkin-headed bastard shaking his little blue water bottle and it will make perfect sense why anyone present in that room will walk back to Birmingham:

Yeah, yeah. UAB fans and players got screwed. Nobody is arguing this.
But USA and their coaches had no part in that. Accepting transfers from UAB was actually helpful in the circumstances. Carte blanche for those players to leave now does them a disservice. And no, it's not fair.
But again, I wouldn't expect many to transfer back anyway, so I doubt it's going to matter.
I certainly don't want to hurt a fellow conference member and I think most of the upper classmen will stay where they are at. You may have a few exceptions.
Guys I love our fellow conference members. Since the jerks have gone on to other leagues this conference has been a blast. I think C-USA upgraded fan wise with our new additions.
