Our O line mostly held up OK. We have good backs and receivers, despite some bad drops from receivers tonight that led to the picks. I think our offense looks better coordinated. More the Tui show and less Bloom.
Positives: good secondary coverage; good run game; Special teams; no fumbles; decent run defense; Cam M., Fresch, McCaffrey
Negatives: no pass rush; pressured QB and WR mistakes; no pass protection at all in 2nd half

However the comments about him were like he is a piece of trash. He doesn’t name himself the starter. He is the epitome of RFND. Remember when he was stretchered off in the Wake Forest game. Then I think he had some major ankle dislocation. He could have stayed and gotten his degree and given up football, and some of you will say you wish he did. Tonite I still think a college receiver should be able to catch a fastball from 10 yards, but nonetheless many D1 quarterbacks would have waved at the Dback as he ran by. Looked to me that Wiley will have a torn rotator cuff of his throwing arm and is probably done for the year. But tonite the comments about him were too personal. I am disappointed as anyone that we got blown out again by a team that was much faster than us.
Totally agree. It amazes me that so many of you guys think this is still 1960, and that we didn't just play against arguably the best coaching staff in the country, the best QB in the country, the best WR in the country, and among the best LB and RB in the country, etc.
Sure we got beat. We all expected to get beat bad. And when you're up against bigger, faster, stronger, you tend to rush throws, overthrow alittle, and tighten up, etc...which leads to tipped balls, etc. Disappointed? yes. Shocked? no.
We're not an elite team -- duh.
But I think the overall talent on the team has steadily improved, and it looks like Bloomgren may have finally relinquished alittle control of the offense to Tui.
I think we can win 6 or more - - all depends on QB going forward, and if we can stay healthy.
Agree. Those guys have talent and speed at every position, but we also shouldn't be losing by 52 points to anyone at this point in this coach's tenure. We played poorly.
It's a tough situation. I hope we at least improved by going against that caliber of talent for three hours. Our guys need that challenge. If we stay healthy, it only makes us better.
There's six wins on the schedule, and maybe more. McNeese and Louisiana are winnable games.
But yes, I'm so sick of being destroyed by top 50 teams. We aren't even competitive against good programs. I'm sick of it.

Which would be the first INT. Pretty much a 14 point misstep, since we were driving for a TD.
Just no room for us to have a bad play.
I just hope Green is OK and can come back.
Yep. That was a 14-point flip. It really killed us. For what it's worth, the interception did touch McCaffrey's hands. Not all of Green's fault there.
We have to play perfect football to compete. Some things never change.
I hope Green is okay. I haven't heard a status report. He's no Johnny Unitas, but he does probably give us the best chance to win. I'd love to see him lead us to a bowl game.
The next two are very winnable. I can't wait for the Louisiana game. That should be a great game and great crowd.
We'll smash McNeese. We're much better.

I don't really get the criticism of Green. I thought he and McMahon played okay. First two INT's should have been caught by the receivers.
I was pleasantly surprised by the way we were able to move the ball on them. As others have said, having absolutely zero pass rush was a killer for the defense. I thought the defensive backs played okay, given that Williams had all day to throw. We caught a couple of bad breaks in the PI overrule (I understand the letter-of-the-law interpretation, but he was mauling our guy the entire route), and the defensive PI that should have been offensive. I believe those were both 3rd down plays, so killed a drive for us and extended one for them.
The first INT was really the killer. We were legitimately in the game before that.
I saw more positives than I thought I would- but we have to cut out the turnovers, and get pressure on the QB. We won't see another Caleb Williams this year, but we will make other QB's look good if we can't get a pass rush.
One other positive- I thought we tackled well for the most part

A scandal that the writers debated bringing up for the Texas game... in 2019. Texas and USC were both involved. Would definitely not be remembered now.

Very old news.
I blame FDR.
We had a strong response to our script from the USC audience.
Rice might have had 1000 in attendance.
That leaves 64,000 Trojans fans (announced).
They were our target audience.
We got in a dig with the UCLA/USC confusion bit.
If you were expecting a band to tear them a new one, go to the game in Palo Alto next week.
That’s the LSJUMB’s schtick - not ours.

Our group at the game felt the band hit a good, appropriate spot and showed up well. And were reasonably well-received by SC fans.
Just got back from flying home with a group of two or three dozen MOB student-members. Seemed to me to be a great bunch of kids. Quintessential Rice students, not so far at all removed from the way we used to be...

I missed the MOB show. I hope something something was mentioned about the USC move to Big Ten and its geographic issues. (As a USC alum too I am not a fan of that move at all.)

As an original MOB alum, I was really looking forward to this show. Here's what it looked and sounded like from our seats (I missed the very beginning):
