Pretty presumptuous of them to call it a non-conference game...

Perhaps Ole Miss could host Rice in a future conference game in around 2024?

Oh my.

I have a ton of USC friends out here. I'll be hearing about this one for the next 7 years.

I actually really like it. Should be fun.

The westward focus of several recent football and MBB non-conference schedule announcements is interesting.

The administration obviously has deep Stanford ties, so familiarity could be a primary driver. Will be interesting to see if there is anything deeper involved (e.g. MWC).

The entire Central Valley Owl Contingent will be there in full regalia... assuming we are all still here.

I think the western look is a good idea because it gives us an opportunity to get the later (local) time slots. Even if they aren't top 20 at the time (and I hope they aren't) USC is likely to get a prime time slot on the west, which will be 4pm or later locally.... the set-up to the 'prime-time' game. People tuning in to catch #5 vs #8 will be able to catch the end of Rice beating USC.

When does ruowls' QB son matriculate into college again? Is this like the men's basketball team playing in Oregon during Gearhart's senior season? 03-idea

(that is a joke, for you casual Parliamentarians out there)

I was an Owl for 6 hours of summer credit, but it's popularly used acronym is SCSU and locally just called "Southern".

The sclera of that USC Owl's eyes in the graphic does appear to be yellow. But only the beak of USC's Otus the Owl mascot costume is yellow. A couple such costumes are shown at "3)" in this post from January.

That's what happens when you can't even fit the name of a state onto its map.
