RE: Jarvis Calhoun will transfer?
Sad to see Calhoun go. It's understandable, though, given the depth on the bench. I'm sure he wishes he was more a part of the rotation, but as others have noted, he has a hometown heart and I know he's thrilled with UAB's success. Wish him the best and hope he realizes he's always a Blazer.

RE: Jarvis Calhoun will transfer?
It seems the thinking may be to get another 2016 since we previously only had 1 to offer(now 2) and we lose a lot of guys the following year. I think we need a big guard/SF and a big. I think Morris may be too similar to Cokley but with more range. Perhaps he'd grow "down" to a SF/PF hybrid...

This is sad news. He's been a real Blazer since before setting foot on campus. At least now he can openly wear #FreeUAB.

LSCC is building a solid program. Dont know any interest in Morris but what you said was spot on he can really shoot it great floor spacer. I think we get two guards, but i could be wrong. Hopefully we get a true point and a shooter but we could use another solid scoring guard. (Payton Willis is reported to have a UAB offer, and has better offers than m(ost guards on the recruiting board currently. His shot looks exactly like Nick Norton's in every aspect its kinda weird to an degree)

RE: Jarvis Calhoun will transfer?
Not surprising at all to me that he is transferring. I actually kind of expected this. Our bench is getting really deep. I hope Sullivan stays. I think he has very high potential.

I think this is probably obvious, but that year off in high school due to the syncopal episode and cardiac concerns really, really hurt JC. He didn't look nearly as physically developed as our other players. He was short AND scrawny. Not a good combination at the D1 level. I doubt he would've ever been a decent defender, and who knows if he would have been able to get his shot off regularly. I was hoping he'd develop into a deadly three point marksman for us off the bench in his junior and senior years, but I don't begrudge him leaving.

I wish him good luck wherever he goes.

Did anyone else see this article when it first hit al.com? The headline was "UAB basketball player leaves program", and the accompanying picture was of Nick Norton and William Lee. I about had a heart attack.

RE: Jarvis Calhoun will transfer?
With the current roster, Calhoun probably would been a senior before he saw really any meaningful playing time and that is assuming that he was as good as Lavender or anyone that comes in as a SG in the next 2 seasons. I can't say that I blame him for transferring. I wish him the best. He was a Blazer before he stepped foot on campus.

South 72, North 65: Kevin Morris helps South stop North domination
http://highschoolsports.al.com/news/arti...ver_sports

South 6-foot-8 center Kevin Morris scored 13 points and cleared seven rebounds – both team highs – to snap the North domination. He was 5-of-6 from the field and also had two blocked shots and two assists.

Triston Chambers of Cold Springs had 12 points, including two 3-point goals...
Javien Williams of Woodlawn also had nine points with two treys....

I think even the Mike Davis late recruiting period is over. No way we find someone worth bringing in.

I doubt it unless its a fifth year transfer like Terrence Jones. Also we got to August to sign someone I think that's when Davis sign Ovie. Also there is one 4* available from Los Angeles Brodricks Jones as SDSU released the freshman from his LOI.

Apparently B. Jones has narrowed his list down to UTEP, Memphis, Syracuse, and Providence. Maybe our coaaching staff can work some magic and try to sign this guy. He is 6'9 205lb, would be a perfect addition to our team. One more big man, and I believe we have a serious shot at an Elite Eight maybe even Final Four run!

I may be wrong but some of those schools are over the scholarship limit. Maybe there's another way for the school to sign him.

Jarvis is a class act and a fellow HT alum. I wish him nothing but the best and if he plays close by I will go see him.

How many went to Bama games just to see Michal Riley? We always wish a Blazer good fortune because they were Blazers, not based on where they play.
