He didn't make a definitive statement either way. It's just so obvious that he won't say what needs to be said because he still needs access to the program to keep his job. Just like Milner.

RE: Why is the media largely silent on Pastners'sdestruction of the program?
The Commercial Appeal did a 5-part story on Josh after reading thousands of Athletic Department emails. Nothing in any of the 5 stories came across as negative. No NCAA infractions (that were not self reported), nothing inappropriate or damaging to what The staff is doing, or how they are doing things. In fact, everything I read told me that Josh is striving to do things well, and by the book. And, he appears to care about the kids, and the program.
So, it sounds like the media may have been trying to dig up something, but haven't found anything negative to report on.
It's unfortunate, but Under Josh's tenure, the Tigers have won a lot of games, but not had the deep tournament run. He's lost a lot of players, but has managed to recruit good replacements for those who chose to leave, or were pushed out. Even with all of the upheaval this past year (poor season and transfers), the consensus was that we were going to have a good team coming back this year.

Nothing negative to report? That's bull. You're just not going to find it in his University email account. Go track down a few former players and ask them what the hell is going on in the locker room.
Seems to me like Pastner isn't the "aw shucks" church-going pretty boy he makes himself out to be. In reality, he's a petty, vindictive control freak who's completely clueless and out of touch. The players know what he's really like. Just ask them. How hard is that?

The funny part was that some folks here thought the CA series was a hit piece on pastner.
It doesn't matter what is written here or in the media, people will make it into what they want it to mean.

I didn't think it was a hit piece. I thought it began as a hit piece, but nothing was found and they cut bait.

I found it refreshing. It was straight news with a source. It didn't throw josh under the bus and it didn't paint him to be the next john wooden. It's probably why people who can't stand him and pastner worshipers both took issue with it.

Standing on its own with intent removed, it was okay, I guess.

If that's true, and there are players that will go on the record to make these claims, then don't you all think that story would have been written by a legitimate journalist by now?

Why is the media largely silent on Pastners'sdestruction of the program?

Nuked?
Man you guys are children. And far too many fans have stepped back and allowed the thug mentality to rule.
Disappointing season last year for sure...injuries helped team end up 18-14 instead of a likely 20-12 or 21-11 NIT year...but nonetheless throwing in an NIT in the middle of a bunch of NCAA tournaments is certai,ny disappointing.
As is not making the Sweet sixteen, in spite of likely having the kids to get there...which in no means means you were a lock to win that final game.
Of course, before Nichols quit on his team and his coach, the expectation was next year's team was going to be pretty good, top twenty caliber and possible NCAA tournament wins.
Of course now the team will likely still be good but not as good...due to the very late quitting for reasons not really seen before. Essentially a kid and his daddy buying into the negative hype, instead of showing fortitude and winning for the ungracious home fans.
Teams have not been as good as the were from 2006-2009. Team cannot have a similar to last year season this coming year...and would not have and still should not have.
But, in react like a child to the last thing you saw whiney world, four consecutive NCAA teams with some advancements and some all conference players and some top ten wins followed by a singular down but still not exactly 9-26 season that resulted in a weak willed kid and his daddy quitting...equals destruction.
For entertainment...watch them tag up on me now. They are like...and probably like....Wal Mart...they do not move alone...and they hate getting what they give back.
Dude the Ganga must be good in Tigerland

Jason Smith's story today is exactly the kind of drivel I'm talking about. Why is he in Georgia writing about Pastner watching AAU games instead of doing some reporting on why Nichols left and why there is a mass exodus of players out of Memphis.
Read that first paragraph. Where is Jason? Sitting in the car with Pastner. Did they travel together? A case of getting too close to your subject?
Recruiting is important I know but write the story after he has landed the player (who will likely transfer later) as Jason has written these Josh running around watching games stories way too much.
Come on Jason, cover your beat!

Parrish will handle the Nichols saga. Smith is a one subject beat writer. He can't excommunicate himself from the program.
