Nice home OOC! VT and USC at the Fick!

At this point, it feels like VT is a conference game. We've played them every year for what seems like decades and have them scheduled for perpetuity.

It's a series that ECU must keep. 20 years ago VT was exactly where ECU is now from a perception standpoint.

It would be nice if ECU could add a Clemson/Virginia/Kentucky/WVU home and home.

RE: ECU getting bids for football stadium expansion
It's why I appreciate (and all of us should) VT. They don't have to do this series - they have very little in reality to gain from it other than great competition and a great regional series. They do it because of what college football should be - cultivating regional rivalries, and they're helping us out greatly because of it.

I also appreciate WVU and USCe for what they've done for us. Sure, you can get panties in a wad about USC not coming to Greenville. But, they had that game with us in Charlotte in '10, and they're coming to Greenville in 19. They don't have to do that. Very few other G5 schools have that opportunity to show off their fanbase in this day of college football like we've been able to in Charlotte against Tech, USC, WV, State, etc. Tech, WV, and USC have always had ECU's back.

Not going to happen now that they are in the B12 with a 9-game conference slate.

Update from nbpirate architect has been selected!

LS3P out of Wilmington in partnership with AECOM: http://www.ecu.edu/cs-admin/bot/upload/F...ties-9.pdf
They most recently did the Clemson west end zone expansion
AECOM did Texas Tech, K State, and Oregon's facilities

We cannot go to 60,000 or unc cheat will have yet another expansion and have 30,000 empty seats per game. It will be interesting see what their next football project will be at least we know it will cost 50 million since our is estimated at 40 million.

I would love for ECU to have Va. Tech as a conference game......In the SEC!

Hearing it won't be 60k. More like 54k with focus on luxury expansion. Where Do you get $50m ?

Thought I read somewhere that it was 5-7k...pushing us to 55-57k...depending on the actual final plan. Like you said, not 60k...and to me 3-5k away isn't near. 3-5k is alot of people.

I heard ours was going to be approximately $40 million upgrade...just making a jab at UNC Cheat --- every time we make improvements they spend more money even if they do not need it; since their inflated attendance reports came out for the Fedora coaching era they have had plenty of low to mid 40,000 games especially if you take out the ECU and NCSU games where we buy every available ticket. I am sure they will spend at least $50 million on something.

I don't know if there is a hard and fast # on capacity yet. I thought I read 54-56k so judging from what each of us think we heard we cant expect it to be in the 55k range. Approximately 55k with premium seating and an over upgrade is perfect for ECU.

What would be so difficult to just copy VT's? I've always liked it.

Go Big or Go home.... I would like to see the press box run end to end across the South Side. Then with possibly an upper deck left in the plans to build if necessary.

At least originally, when Holland talked about the project (IIRC) the idea was to go end to end. I too like the idea of a mini deck on the front too.

Not sure where everyone's numbers are coming from, but the surveys that were sent out back in May were centered pretty much exclusively around luxury options, and based on the mock-ups, it looked like they would more likely replace seats than build additional ones.
