No more hardship waivers on transfers
Caught this blurb. I vaguely recall it was proposed, but looks like hardship waivers will be a thing of the past, though it creates the possibility of a sixth-year senior (if they transfer after having a prior redshirt year). I don't think this kills the graduate transfer exception, though.

Shoot; that was how we were going to get Suliman from Duke; he was coming home to Houston (so he did not have to sit out a year).

I'll check with my friend and her son. Last I heard, she thought he'd be able to play immediately for UH after transferring from Oregon.

Sulaiman was graduating this May, I believe, so this rule would not impact him. While the article doesn't say one way or the other (it really should have), I'm virtually certain I heard the graduate transfer rule isn't going anywhere (yet).

You think he would still be welcome here after the circumstances of his dismissal were revealed?

"You think he would still be welcome here after the circumstances of his dismissal were revealed?"

I never heard whether any of it was substantiated or not. There has been enough smoke, with no fire, at Duke, for me to pause before judgment.

I think Coach Rhoades has proved that his judgement can be trusted. If he were willing to take him, then I'd say take the risk. If not, obviously dont.

I can support that.

I mean this as an honest question - what has Rhoades done to prove his judgment can be trusted? I haven't followed hoops very closely this season so I really don't know.

I like Rhoades and I like what he got out of the team this year, but I wasn't aware of any situations that had come up this year that illustrated the quality of his judjment in this type of situation.

Also, to further the theme of me being ill-informed -- what is the story with Sulaimon and Rice? Has he made a decision on where he's going next, or is it still up in the air?

Fair question. The feeling is based more on his overall performance than upon any specific demonstration of trustworthiness. His past as an extremely successful head coach plus top assistant at a highly successful mid-major would also suggest trustworthiness. He does not appear to have cut any corners anywhere.

It's not like anyone has trusted him with the nuclear launch codes. But it's not like he's Morcos either.
