I would say there's no way the administration would announce a contract extension for Clark without Clark there, but the past 9 months have proven nothing is impossible.

Or maybe that's why they are making the announcement, because Clark isn't here. Just sayin'.

Maybe they are announcing they have found a new football coach. Clark wouldn't have to be there for that announcement. 03-lmfao The "take it or leave it" approach

I don't know, but one of the worst parts of this whole ordeal has been the announcements that there will be an announcement.

They are announcing that we are dropping out of division one because we will not field six men's sports this year

My guess is we'll find out when football returns. Contract by Friday or Monday.

Does Clark need to be in his home or office for his agent to be negotiating urgently? What is unusual about a family vacation at the 4th of July?

I hope you're right. OTOH, it would not be a surprise if they made an announcement regarding when they plan to begin play again. If they do so it's the standard UAB sports information blunder. Anytime that something big about UAB Football is announced Clark should be doing it, or at the least standing right there as the face of the program.

The admin knows they don't need Men's XC this coming season, so we know the NCAA has given our admin the green light to move forward with the date agreed upon. If we can drop xc before it starts, it can only mean two things: we get a one-year reprieve for DI scholarship requirements; or we are signing football players immediately.

Or it's a way to destroy UAB athletics by accident

What does a Wednesday mean, since tomorrow isn't Friday

From my understanding, if UAB were in violation of Division I rules for a year, it'd just result in probation/warning, which wouldn't matter if the team returns in 2016. Since returning in 2017 would mean some players would have to start getting signed in 2016, that might not matter either. I'm sure the NCAA isn't going to be so super strict about Division 1 requirements. Any sticking point might be a FCS transition year, or whether or not signing for 2016 even if no games are played eats a year of eligibility

Another factor is the ability to cobble together an FBS schedule for 2016. I'm not sure if conference opponents have already filled those slots

I just threw out Fri or Mon as random dates... if Clark is on vacation, there's no way they announce a new contract without him there. No way.

FYI, Ingram told us at the jumpstart dinner we would hear something soon... he specifically said the NCAA was being very un-bureaucratic, lifting red tape for us. Pretty sure we'll be hearing about our plan going forward.
