The medical angle is brilliant - not only for the actual research / PR/ synergy angles as mentioned but the long term campus politics. Ray Ray being an ****whole is what united the campus. The SOM has resented for years the indirect research money being used for athletics. We need the SOM to be at least neutral to athletics. Watts and the old farts on the BOT will soon be gone. The SOM research docs are the real power at UAB and the future presidents will again be their creation.
