Their 2017 class had 34 guys! How is that possible?
Michigan had 11 early enrollees in 2017 (in 2017 Bama had 12, Oklahoma 11, O$U 9), usually they have between 3-7 early enrollees under Harbaugh but some years more to balance classes / NFL draft early entrants. 1-2 of the currently 26 committed kids are likely not going to be in the 2019 class and Michigan is still on 4-5 high major targets.
The commitment numbers are fluid and change. For Michigan's CO 2017 at least five were walk ons. (The last five on 24/7 with low or no ratings). One was a P. Another was a WR who flipped from Columbia!
Coach Fick is as creative a coach as other coaches. Three important Bearcats from CO 2018 didn't show up (or sign with UC) until about Aug 8, 2018: Grad transfers LT Boyd, LB Bere and CB Cam Jefferies. Bere might play again in 2019 and Jefferies has two years to play one year starting in 2019. Cam Jefferies is so fast he graduated from Bowling Green in two years. Heck, with three years at UC, he might get a Ph.D.
In UCs Class of 2018, five players decommtted, three in late Nov and Dec 2017. Four are originally from Georgia. One flipped to GaTech, but the others are at Georgia State, Charlotte, and ULouisiana Ragin Cajuns.
The longer we Bearcat fans wait, the higher the 2019 commits's ratings will be for UC, as in 2017 and 2018.
I'm hoping for Mich Class of 2017 James Hudson, friend of Truck Warren to be a Bearcat. He's a good DT and a better RT. The Cats are doing amazing recruiting in SW Ohio, Ohio, and Chicago. The Bearcats have a formula for recruiting and it works.
