Good info Bearcatman! Sounds like he'd be a great addition if it happens although he would have to sit out a year with 2 left to play as I understand it.

This is one of the weird in-between situations. He has only played I'm one game, so I'm not sure if he would be able to move now and redshirt/cool off this year or not a la Kelly Bryant

He would be a massive add...kid was a borderline starter as a RS Frosh at the #5 team in the country.
Jordan Strack, is that Dutch?

I'm no expert, but I think Kelly Bryant is a grad transfer while Hudson already used his redshirt year as a true freshman.

You're right, for some reason I didnt think Bryant was a grad transfer...otherwise that all checks out.

High School teammate, classmate, and very good friend of Michael Warren in a position of need...
I’m intrigued, sending out the bat signal to the board’s best Twitter recruiters.
Hell, I coached against him for four years up in Toledo...I've probably seen more tape on him than any of the 247/Scout/Rivals evaluators. He'd be a very good addition in my opinion, just was something I saw and knew we had a connection (through his initial recruitment AND Warren).
You think he'd be an OL or DL for us? I realize you prolly haven't seen him as an OL, but hey...it's an internet board. feel free to wildly speculate.
He played both ways his senior year of high school...I just checked back on the play charts for that game and they ran behind him 31/39 times against us (Warren had 270 yards on 35 rushes in that game) and he was continuously matched up against a guy for us who is committed to UK and just got an OSU offer...so yeah...he's good. Relies on his strength A LOT though, may need some work on feet and keeping his arms extended.
Awesome. Very cool that you were able to pull up that info. Excellent insights all the way around.
Considering how much success MWII is having here, their existing relationship, and how well we're doing in year 2 of the CLF experience I can see how UC would be an attractive destination for him. I really hope he opts to come visit Clifton, and eventually opts to join the Bearcats. Sounds like it would be a huge get for us.
Then.....if we could secure J. Allen as well. WOW. Talk about a big turnaround in our fortunes along the OL. But i digress.....don't wanna get too far ahead of myself. But damn....we also have a great OL coach. so much potential...

There's not a lot of clarity around this. We've been told anything from, there aren't many left, to we may have more than expected due to attrition. All that to say that somewhere between 4-7...?

I'm pretty uneducated when it comes to recruiting. I see that this class has a lot less flash than the previous couple. Is there a reason for that?

Good question. Personally, i find it to be a lil disappointing of a class. That said, it's in line with the historical norms of UC over the last 10 years across all the various coaches, so in reality it's not that bad of a class. Seems like they're getting a pass due to just how amazing last year's class was. It's going to end up being a middling class relative to our peers in the AAC.
Anywho, to answer the question - the reason many of us believe is that the staff is trying to backfill some positions with some guys that are more projects than finished products. This way they can mold these young men into the athletes they need to run their system. this is a luxury they can afford after doing well with the last couple of classes plus having some good young talent left behind by Tubbs.

The last class had a group of recruits who all formed a strong bond during the recruiting process and decided to come to UC together. We haven't had that this year, particularly one involving a group of highly ranked guys.
Another factor is that SWO was a little deeper in talent than this recruiting cycle.

RE: Football Class of 2019
Good reasons listed above. Some to add IMO:
1. I think there's just not as much buzz because we don't have as many skill guys committed. No QB (assuming Jones is going to be on the OL), no RB, no TE, only one WR.
2. Every school needs 3-5 linemen per cycle, so there's less likely of a chance a highly rated OL falls in our lap. The staff identified Jones, McAdams, Herring, and Mendiola early and decided to push for commitments. They all may not be highly rated but they all have legit size.
3. Eric Phillips' rating really brings the class numbers down. I know not everybody on the board agrees, but I think he's criminally underrated and should be an 0.8200 type of player on 247's scale.

It's an interesting year in Ohio recruiting. You have the #2 player in the class (from Walnut Hills) going to Virginia, the #8 player (Faucheux from Lakota W) going to Purdue (as well as the #16 & #24 players). When was the last time Purdue got 3 top 25 OH players? Then 3 top 30 players going to BC.

I have full faith in this staff's ability to recruit, so not concerned in the slightest. They worked miracles on a short schedule with the first class and hit it out of the park with the second. Not to mention 8-1 in year 2 of a rebuild... Fickell and co. have my respect.

I 1000% agree. I'm not questioning anything. I assumed there was a reasoning that was above my head.
I was very much disappointed with the Coach Fick hire when he was hired. Then I did a complete 180 when I heard him talk. He's the real deal.

So long as Urban Meyer remains at OSU, they will continue to recruit on national basis trying to keep up with the likes of Alabama. As a result, this leaves more Ohio bred products to go elsewhere. I am confident our coaching staff will be a factor for the top recruits in the state.
Jeff Brohm is getting it done at Purdue. Hopefully he doesn't go to Louisville, as he'll be able to dine on ever better Ohio recruits-- particularly here in SWO.

I absolutely agree with everything listed. We had the luxury to backfill at positions of need and go for a few developmental types, and now it appears that the focus is on reeling in some high profile guys like Jonathan Allen and Jamir Thomas.

I would be very happy if they can close the class with:
Ivan Pace
Anthony Booker
Jonathan Allen/Josiah Ezirim
Tre'Von Morgan/Devon Fox
+ any transfers or kids who decommit with coaches getting fired/leaving

I wonder, but it seems like, Pace, is smallish for what this staff is looking for at LB. Especially ILB.
My wishlist would be:
A. Booker
Jonathan Allen
Jamir Thomas
Tre Morgan
John Bivens
