Rivals has uc slightly ahead of Miami, 50/58,

It’s s numbers game. They are ranked higher because they have 16 recruits vs our 11. On an individual level our recruits have s higher composite score. When NSD comes and passes we will finish way ahead of them.

Football Class of 2019
I'm pretty sure that Miami has around 15 commits already, which would explain how high they are. Average recruit was better at UC.

RE: Football Class of 2019
Miami is putting together a nice class, but their top player would only rank #4 in our class. As others have pointed out, they have more commits at this stage, which drives the numbers up. Our staff isn't going to take that many guys this early in the process because we are in on bigger fish. In the end, we will likely be ranked well ahead of Miami.

Yeah, but ND aside, he's still got a handful of the usual suspects in his top 10. When/if he gives a final 5 I think we'll see how different/unique this cat really is or isn't.
All things considered, I guess this sorta qualifies as bizarre:
COMMITMENT!: UVA lands commitment from four-star Jowon Briggs
In other news, I think we had a decent shot with this kid but UM and Al Washington got the commit:
OHIO STATE BASEBALL COMMIT JOEY VELAZQUEZ OPTS TO PLAY FOOTBALL AT MICHIGAN

ACC school and one of the better institutions in the country...I dont think that's bizarre judging by others in his top ten.

This is from Feb 2018:
Could Irvington class of 2019 OL Savion Herring be the next big thing?
"Herring measured 6-4 3/4 and 303 pounds at Rutgers Monday (edit: Feb 2018), he says.
He played right tackle and defensive tackle at Hudson Catholic before transferring to Irvington after moving in with his mother who lives in the school's district.
He could potentially play both ways at Irvington, as well.
Although somewhat raw, Herring is long athletic, can get to the second level and has the balance to stay off the ground.
He is currently playing JV basketball and will throw the shot put in the spring."

My memory could be fuzzy, but I believe Irvington high school was the Alma Mater of the great Bearcat running back in the 1970s, Alan Harvin.

RE: Football Class of 2019
Question(s) for those of you who follow recruiting and the roster closer than I do.
My memory of 4 - 5 years ago is that a large # of our recruits came from Florida. I don't think that any of this years commitments as yet come from Florida. Then I went to look at the roster, sorted by class, and looked at the Juniors and Seniors. I only counted 5 from Florida. Now some of these should be important players for us this year, such as Lewis, Geddis, and Rollins, but I was surprised by the low count.
So, is my memory faulty, or is the attrition among those Florida recruits especially heavy?
I like the emphasis on local, tri-state recruits. Are there other implications, good or bad, of the de-emphasis on Florida recruiting?

Eddie Gran and Hinshaw were the guys who recruited FL so well. They left After the 2015 season, so the kids they brought have for the most part cycled through.
We will still likely bring in a few couple FL and GA recruits every year, just not as many as before.

Yep, most of Tubberville's guys and Tubby himself were Florida focused.

Kid looks like he's going to need a good amount of time to develop before he'll be a contributor for us. He's a project the same way many before him have been for UC. That said, he's got the frame to one day be a major problem for opposing QBs.
Looking fwd to seeing how this pans out.

Noticed JJ weaver was bumped up to a warm on 247. Would be a nice pickup.

Short, low ranked, not a mind blowing offer list, but runs a 4.37 forty.
I was looking at the targets list on 247... I noticed it says we have 26 WRs on the roster. Please tell me that is wrong. I don't want to look myself.
Looks like a Tubby type commit. We beat out 5 MAC, 1 MVC, 1 IND., 1 OVC, and Temple
