I would not call it a partnership. Texas doesn't need Tech yo go anywhere it wants in college athletics. Tech cannot the same thing about Texas.
So not really a partnership
We will agree to disagree. UT wants Texas Tech as a partner but if UT decided to leave Tech, Tech would be fine.
We are simply to big to be left behind. State of Texas as our home, improved academics, decent TV ratings in Texas and the country, large student body and a large fan base in this massive, growing state.
Youre hillarious. NOBODY cares about Tech outside of Florida and to say you have the third largest fanbase is funny considering it is at best a DISTANT 3rd. Id have to see some hard numbers for proof cause last I checked TCU has become VERY popular in Texas.
Your academics may have improved but you dont even qualify for 3 of the conferences. Hell, youre behind my alma mater in so many different categories its scary.
No matter what you say, you add nothing to the SEC. Texas A&M has gotten the network into every market the SEC needs in Texas. THe network is already in Lubbock.... by at least three different providers.
I never said the state of Florida cared about Texas Tech. We do have the 3rd largest fan base in Texas according to attendance, TV ratings and merchandise sales and no one else comes close in Texas. Do some research and you will be educated on this.
A&M recruiting as of today is behind Baylor, TCU and Tech according to rivals. A&M is picked to finish 6th in the SEC west and they are slipping back to their normal Big 12 ways. A&M fans are a fickle bunch and they will get tired of 59-0 beat downs and their fans will stop caring.
We add viewers that care about Texas Tech in the SEC and we provide a better alternative to A&M. It took A&M a 100+ years to reach AAU status and we will be there in less years than it took them. They were only added recently and they have been a school since the 1870's.

All I hear is blah blah blah... we will do this and we will do that. Wake me up when Tech does anything. My school was started in 1956 and yet we are basically ranked the same as you by US world and news, we already are Tier 1 and youre tier 2 and we kick the crap out of you in research dollars and patents. Honestly for a school started when you were, your academics are pathetic. In a decade you wont have even caught up with us.
and for all your clamoring, the SEC came for A&M... they never eve talked to you. A&M outranks you in attendance, facilties, academics and wins.... and income too. Thats not changing anytime soon.
Your entire argument is that you "think" A&M is going to be weaker and that you "will" be stronger in the future. Thats all crap until it happens.

Not once has there ever been a rumor that Tech had an offer to any conference. Everytime its Texas that is desired and they will take you. Every conference would take Texas in a heartbeat... no conference has ever tried to get you without them.
Admit it, youre nothing more then the fat chic who has a hot friend. You might get laid but every guy is wishing you were the hot one.
Tech football will get back to Leach levels soon. We took a step back when we hired Tuberville and Kliff is slowly cleaning up the mess.
Basketball is getting back to James Dickey/Bob Knight levels with Tubby Smith. Slowly improving
UH is not Tier 1 in the true sense of the word. Every school hopes they have academics on the level of AAU schools and both Tech and UH have a little work to do in reaching that goal. Tech is "Tier 1" according to the USNWR.
I'm sorry USF got left out but don't ridicule Texas Tech.

Isn't that the same cry from G5 fans saying let us in and we will prove you wrong? We are Tier 1 according USNWR. I won't even bother with the rest because its nonsense. You are looking to pick a fight and I won't get in the gutter. Good luck

Actually youre wrong. The Carnegie foundation rates Houston as Very high research which is considered tier 1. Tech is only Hig Research which is tier 2. Houston is ahead of you.
Tech hasnt had anything impressive in football in over a decade and even under coach knight, who i grew up with and know, it wasnt impressive. knight said bluntly that he had a hard time recruiting to tech since nobody saw it as a destination school.
I am just utterly shocked at the delusion. You havent made one single argument other then you have the 3rd highest attendance. Baylor isnt about 10K behind you and you are about 50K behing A&M. Considering that Baylor is a private school with less than half the student body and yet they are that close in attendance... your claims dont carry much weight.
Within five years at the growth rate that Baylor and TCU are having along with the lackluster performance Tech has had, i dont see you holding on to the distant third claim long.
.... Only reason I bring up all of this is I find it highly offensive that you come over to OUR board and talk smack about Houston. You have a board. Go back and live in your little priviledged bubble because if Houston ever had the protection and benefits that Texas extends to you, they would drop kick your puny ass back to the stone ages.

Please get educated. Carnegie doesn't recognize Tiers anymore and they base their rankings on research which means nothing to those of us in the real world. Todge/Rod has explained this numerous time and I suggest you read his posts of this board and Coogfans.
We beat #1 Texas in 2008, beat ranked OU in 2011, beat ranked West Virginia in 2012 and beat ranked Arizona St in the 2013 Holiday Bowl. I bet USF would love to be that irrelevant.
Knight won enough games to make the NCAA tourney even with those restraints so I call BS.
Baylor averaged 12k less than Tech opening a brand new stadium. What was Baylor's attendance 6-8 years ago? Mid 30k's in a 50k seat stadium.
20 years ago, A&M had roughly the same attendance that Tech has today. They saw a short term boost with the move to the SEC and that will fade soon as the newness wears off being in the SEC. A&M fans won't tolerate 59-0 beat downs and they don't have a RC Slocum in the pipeline to cure the evils that Kevin Sumlin has created. No Kliff, No Johnny and recruiting is suffering as of today.
The only one talking smack is you, a few coog fans and a UConn fan. I have earned the respect of 2 UH posters and I won't get in the gutter with a G5 fan looking to pick a fight.

So I don't know if it was this thread or maybe another, but I made a post stating the Big XII will be left behind when it comes to revenue.
http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com...er-school/
Big 10 distributed $32 million per team. And they haven't even negotiated their new TV contract yet.
I don't think the Big XII will be in that range unless they consider new markets at minimum.

Nobody cares about tech,TCU or Baylor in Houston. The only shirts you see for sale are texas,A&M,UH in Houston.

And nobody cares about Houston anywhere but Houston, with or without a shirt.
