Fair enough.

(And note that I deleted my initial post.)

I'm not saying how this will play out - although from everything I'm hearing it was likely a group of mid level front office staff vengeful towards Luhnow rather than some broad departmental "corporate espionage" - but if federal crimes were committed than those responsible should be prosecuted.

And if I'm wrong on my guess here I'll be the first to admit it (OK - maybe not be very first).

I will say this ... at minimum it makes the Cardinals front office look terrible for having a rogue element inside the group damaging the reputation of the franchise. In NCAA terminology it's the old "lack of institutional control" concept.

Oh you'll be the first to admit it, but very likely not the first to point it out.

Ha ... can't argue with that.

From what I have read about the situation, it's not clear if the activity started before or after the Astros moved from the NL Central to the AL West.

If the Astros organization had not made this move, do you think:

1.) The investigation would be handled differently?

2.) Any punishment, if the Cardinals are indeed guilty, would be different?

I hear that the Cardinals have made the argument that they are concerned that Luhnow may have taken some proprietary information with him upon his exit.

This story appears to be over with the plea deal that Chris Correa, former Cards' scouting director, entered into. What a schmuck. I hope it ends with him.
