Nope, not there. Memphis can use a Kemah type development(google it) to compliment what's already on Mud Island. Quite Franky, the location of Mud Island limits it's babysitting potential.

That said, Memphis should have never sold the naming rights and schematics of the Zippin Pippin to another city. Every time I hear it mentioned in connection to Green Bay, I get pissed. If anything, a clone could have been built as part of Graceland's Elvis Playland along with the planes.

On the link of the pavilion thing, they had a man made stream and lake. Take that farther, why not a made man white water course like what OKC is doing. If not there, how about Shelby Farms

Some how get the Engineering Dept. tied into it ,use government funding and call that area Renewable Park.

That would be incredible. Do a partnership with the university for renewable engineering studies.
Question: would that make the Liberty Bowl "on campus?" LOOPHOLE!
Run the water park with renewable energy. Use hydro energy in conjunction with the park. Think of how much private money would come in to have their name/business associated with this type of project.

It would be neat to save the MSC but lined the roof with a flexible solar panel surface to power it.

I said before that if they wanted baseball fields, they should design them them to old Negro League parks and have a mini museum dedicated to it. There's quite a few tourney complexs that replicate old and new MLB parks.

I am going to go old school on you all. Who remembers lakeland as a 'water park'? IN the 80s and earlier Lakeland was less populated, and it was a place to do some lake swimming etc.

Also, I like the solar panel - MSC idea.

Lakeland had an amusement park. You can still see the pylons for the cable cars in the lake. The train got robbed every time you rode it too. Pretty fun place at the time. I don't remember a water park maybe just a beach. It was in the 60"s., early 70"s. Adventure river was on Whitten road back in the 80's.

Nope, used to have Adventure River but it closed a while ago. Not real sure a location in midtown would work all that well for a water park. I wonder if that is a pie in the sky recommendation.

Water park idea is asinine. The area they reserve for it is not large enough to be practical and they are designating it as a private development water park. We had Maywood which closed due to not being able to afford liability insurance. Had several others try to create water parks but none of them survived very long. Especially which you have the fiasco as you did out at putt putt.

If anyone was to open a water park in this area. I would go down off I-69 between I-55 and Tunica. Or between I-55 and Collierville. Somewhere where you have easy access and plenty of room to build and not have everything crowded together.

checks the employment driver, security, liablity, year round use and tax revenue boxes. if they can get BassPro in the Pyramid, maybe they can get Great Wolf Lodge next to the Childrens Museum at the Fairground. combine that with the youth activities brought into the multi-court arena and you've got an instant market of people staying in their hotel (looks like they manage in the 200-400 key range), families playing in their park, giving any younger kids something to do at the CMoM, and their older kids competing in the arena. synergy - it works. the hotel/park operator may like the idea of a customer generator that will keep that hotel occupied year round by that arena rather than just part of the year by outdoor sports (which you also still have at some level at Toby Park, just around the corner). adding the extra rugby/lacrosse field will bring a lot more people over there than you imagine - lacrosse is a HUGE sport - the same growth potential as soccer in this area a decade ago.

Adventure River was profitable but the land was worth more than the park.

Great Wolf would never put a location at the Fairgrounds . It will have to be off an interstate. The thing about Great Wolf is that you have to stay there to play there. Your best bet is off I-40 near the Pyramid. Maybe the area around the I-40/ TN386/269 interchange. Really would tempt Nashvillians there. It the area around the new outlets in Southav3n gets a Cabelas, I'm afraid that would be the most likely area. The Great Wolf in the Metroplex fetches near 400 bucks a room around some holidays. KC only flirts with 300. Google Kalahari and Mt. Olympus, those both offer dry attractions indoors as well.

For anyone who says 10 acres isn't enough space haven't seen some of the parks out there with the mega sized play structures

Not even two acres

Love to see this and more on Mud Island themed to Tom and Huck if it can't be like Kemah Boardwalk.
