This is how the fights between Suburban and Urban people start. Urban city dwellers telling Suburban people their neighborhood should not exist. Lush what you need to realize is that people are free to live where they want, send their kids to good suburban public schools. Urban people have long commutes also. Get on a plane and fly over the USA 95% of it is wild and open. The land isn't being used it is wide open.

Suburban America serves a vital role in housing and maintaining strong communities. Not everyone wants to live in Covington or Northside.

i would never tell anybody where to live. i'm a man of principles. i would never tell a man he couldn't do anything. what i said was suburbs shouldn't exist, so they couldn't live in suburbs if they didn't exist. if people want to live in suburbs fine, but it'd be nice if they knew about what land was torn up to create their land. and i know that exists for us city folk too. but we already have the pillaged land, we have properties available to you. affordable and some safe.

hogwash. that tapestry you fly over is wild? i don't know the exact parameters to the extent of farming in the states, but it has to be massive. i don't need to fly to know this. i've seen it, man. the horror. the horror.

So you're saying everyone should pay $1500/month to live in a sardine can? There's not much unused land in Illinois, but most of it is used for agriculture, not suburbs or cities. I agree we should keep some wild places, but those have as much threat from businesses as they do from suburbs.

Good Lord. You're a Communist.

so having wild land isn't important?

This is such a clown post I'm not sure how to respond other than this.

Keep in mind that's just the federal land, not state owned. Ever been in an airplane?

RE: The Suburbs
I like small town life. I grew up in a town with 1k and surrounded by farms and still live there. But now there are 3k and subdivisions outnumber farms outside the city limits. I can drive to the city in about an hour and that works well.

RE: The Suburbs
thank you. and that isn't wild. but i am thankful for the midwest. since most people are concentrated around major metropolitan areas, it makes sense to have more void space around those areas. more people, more opportunities for pollinators. why? because big cities would at least consider investing in this. here in suburban cincinnati there is this,

Mason's natural jewel

Rachel Richardson, [email protected] 12:31 a.m. EDT October 25, 2014
Green B.E.A.N. Delivery leases 50 acres of land to grow organic produce

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden's 600-acre Bowyer Farm property north of Mason's downtown is a refuge for plants and wildlife.
Early Warren County settlers transformed natural wetlands into farmland.
Dallas and Helen Bowyer donated the property to the Cincinnati Zoo in furtherance of the zoo's mission.
Zoo's conservation efforts have brought 125 bird species, 200 native plants to Bowyer Farm.
Perched atop what used to be verdant fields of swaying cornstalks and soybeans, a great egret spreads its wings and dips a slender beak into a marsh. A kingfisher soars overhead the glittering oasis as migrating shorebirds forage along a stretch of mudflats in search of worms and larvae. Native sedges, cattails and bursts of crimson-eyed mallow line the shore's edge, sheltering darting frogs and flittering butterflies.

So we shouldn't have farms either?

I think I'm getting it here, you're one of those "the world would be better off without people entirely" types.

Fine, you start.

There's no "crashing" these parties, just show up with some cheap Chardonnay for the dolled-up womens, and a bumper of bourbon for the guys, no problem.

I'm guessing none of these "guests" did either.

i'm aware. wooden shoe hollow is a beautiful place. that technically isn't northside, but it's close. i made note to mention that my neighborhood was once an oasis. used to be so many bubbling (or is it babbling?) brooks they called the place frogtown. the point is, i moved into the neighborhood i didn't build on some lot where there was once nothing. and from an aesthetics point of view, negative space sometimes speaks louder than what is created. anyways,

jmu, i'm not against people, they should live as they choose. and as crazy as it sounds, i might be wrong about the whole wild space near cities concept as to why it's important. i still think it's a good idea
