Proposed Rule Changes approved
http://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/...anges-game

Among the official Changes

30 second shot clock

1 less timeout per game

Called timeouts within 30 seconds of a media timeout will count as a media timeout.

No more 5 second closely guarded rule

10 Total seconds to get ball across half court. Timeouts and out of bounds do not reset it. This is my personal favorite

I like the 10 total seconds as well. I'm a little confused about the timeouts within 30 seconds of a media timeout. Does that give coaches the freedom to call "free timeouts"?

No, if you call a timeout at 8:20 you use one of your given timeouts, but it will be converted to a media timeout in actual length and then there will be no additional under 8 timeout

Yep, Women's Basketball has been utilizing this rule for, I believe, the last 2 years. It's been helpful.

Women's soccer is far more competitive and entertaining than women's basketball.

Sorry... I'd rather watch Alex Morgan and her friends run around all sweaty over Brittney Griner and her friends any day. Just saying. There's a method to my madness. You should know that by now.

There's definitely more similarity between Men's soccer and women's soccer. The technical play works for both. And sometimes I think the men whine more.

RE: Proposed Rule Changes approved
I really think these rule changes support our style of play.

If we can pressure more with a full roster, we should be able to eat up 7-9 seconds of a 30 second clock just getting the ball across half court. Then, the other team has just over 20 seconds to set up their offense and take a shot.

Should lead to more rushed shots, more one on one drives, and a worse shot selection. Defensive rebounding is going to become even more important and getting out on the break after the rebound. Advantage - UNCW

Also, taking a timeout if you see you aren't going to get over half court loses the advantage of resetting the clock. I predict coaches won't burn timeouts to save possession for 10 second violations, except in vital situations. Advantage UNCW.

This should play right into Keatts hands. Deeper roster to press, and a greater opportunity to create turnovers. I like it.
