We've all seen the opinions and shared our opinions of Liberty being invited into the Belt. Let's see which reason is the most popular.

I, personally, don't have a problem with Liberty. If they're willing to cap their athletic spending, you'll find that not many will either. They shouldn't have to, but that seems to be an issue...

Overall I don't like the idea of a private in an otherwise public conference and that bias was probably developed from our time in the shortsighted mostly private SoCon. The past (or current) religious intolerance issues do not concern me from an athletic conference perspective and this is coming from a confirmed agnostic.

I think my problem is the national perceived problem with the school. Look how many here can take issue with the school and we've been told over and over how many of their craziness from the founder is in the past since he died. But they still have a strong negative reputation surrounding them. In the end is this about sports. I don't care what their particular beliefs are as long as they don't care about mine or force their beliefs on others. But that reputation can take the focus away from sports.

My biggest problem with their sports is that they have all this money, great facilities, good support, and yet don't really challenge for titles.

Also I hate online diploma mills. Online course are okay and the movement of higher education but don't be like University of Phoenix, it cheapness the brand.

Why should anyone cap their athletic spending? Is UConn? I think people assume Liberty has more money available for athletics than they probably actually do.

I think you're wrong, but hey, if they don't, it's a non-issue.

I don't trust them. Their endowment is somewhere between $100M and $1B. They are not listed on the Nacubo endowments list. Why? Almost every other school in America has a president or chancellor who has a mission and/or wants to be in a conference with like schools. They are an oddity in that they are a young private school that is mostly online and that have the majority of their alumni outside VA.

For the life of me I don't understand why anyone would want to limit another Belt member's spending on athletics. I understand the fear of not being able to keep up, but that's a problem for the shcool who's trying to do it on the cheap, not for the school trying to put the best product on the field for its fans.
