I could see why MSU hockey fans, former players, etc. would not have been happy with that change when it happened. I imagine when that went down, Hollis told the hockey program something like, This is what we're doing as an athletic department. Like it or not, you're getting on board. MSU probably would have been best off keeping the script and replacing the block S on the shoulders with the Spartan head.

It's fun and all to talk about and debate, but the reality is that it's highly unlikely that we do anything similar (as far as branding) anytime soon. No way P.J. backs off the "ghost Bronco" anytime soon - whether it has any real staying power as a logo will probably depend on some combination of how successful he is and how long he sticks around. Hawk has been using the same Bronco script on the uniforms since he took over 12 years ago, and it's hard to envision him doing anything different as long as he's running the show. Hockey, I'm guessing, will probably continue to do as they've done as well.

And, again, we're just talking logos and scripts here - not even addressing uniform colors...

Part of me wonders if that's hinting at a new Gold uni...

Western Michigan University's colors are BROWN and GOLD. Not black or yellow. Certainly white, black or grey may be used as a MINOR accent color, but BROWN and GOLD are OUR university's official colors and should be used by every WMU athletic team. Black is NOT, and NEVER should be, a primary WMU color. Using it makes it look like we are ashamed of our past and traditions.

If you don't like WMU's colors, transfer.

Not a shot at you, SilentStryke09. Gold uniforms would be fine, but no more black. WMU should be done with the failed black era and return to brown and legitimate gold.
