Ty Long says some players that transferred are looking to come back!
Just reported on ABC 33/40. Ty says former players are excited and some are looking at coming back to UAB.

RE: Ty Long says some players that transferred are looking to come back!
How would that even work after financial documents have been signed?

If they enroll in August doesn't freakin matter. No football in 2015 means they can use it as their year to sit.

They're not property. Players walk away from their teams all the time.

Most of the reason, for any that happen to transfer back, will be because us not playing this coming season might be considered like a redshirt year or transfer rules so sit out. Many things/questions will have to be answered & I'm sure only the guys who were FR/SO for us, will consider transferring back & sit out this coming year at UAB, most of the JR/SR will stay where they went. I'd hope that this fall will be our spring training & we'd have another spring training next spring so we won't be that short numbers but will still be a bit short of overall numbers much like Callaway's first season when he cleaned out. What did UNCC do as they ramped up will be our model

I wouldn't mind getting a few of the coaches back as well.

I'm looking at you, Zac Wolfin...

Zac Woodfin would be an even better choice.

This. And it was completely beyond him to utter a simple "I'm sorry" or "I wish I had done it differently".

By the way, any sympathy I had for Watts' wife went out the window when I heard that she was at the back of the room bitching and complaining about every hard question he was asked. "This is supposed to be a happy day, why do they keep asking those kinds of questions?"

So you and Punkinhead can drag your asses on out of town. Sooner would be better than later.

I don't know of anything similar to a program that disbanded its program for six months and brought it back. There is no precedent, but I bet the NCAA catches hell if they give the players a hard way to go about returning.

I agree, but they also have to think about the teams the players transferred to. If there is a mass exodus from USA, I would be happy for UAB, but it would put a sour taste in USA's mouth. Especially if they were counting on starting them. I'm sure there would be an understanding, but still a sour taste.

A classic example of the law of unintended consequences. Watts thought that UAB was the only school that would be affected. This cascade effect with other schools who see this as a horrendously stupid chain of events now may lose some of their players because of it.

I could be wrong, but the precedent set is a) the procedures in place when a school shuts down a sport and b) the procedures in place when a school starts a new sport.

Those are the rules I would expect the NCAA to follow.
Obviously, the 6th month time frame makes this case a little different, but it would seem UAB would fall under the same guidelines as any start-up football program.

It seems unlikely the NCAA would grant any relief to UAB considering it was UAB's decision to end its football team in the first place.
