UAB Football Statue
So when do we build the statues in front of the Coaches Offices of Rep Jack, Bill Clark, Tim Alexander, Justin Craft, Jimmy Filler and all who fought so hard publicly to bring us back. Kidding on the statues, but I wish there was some way to really make this part of visable UAB history...plaque, engraving, something.

Meh. Bill Clark Field at Bartow Stadium.

Garrison may have bought us some time, but she could have done a lot more for us and didn't. I'm not saying that I wouldn't have done the same thing in her shoes...but I wouldn't expect a stadium to be named after me if I did, either.

Those guys already have buildings named after them and Garrison has been getting trashed here lately because she's been silent during this whole debacle, but she should get an enormous amount of credit for the growth on the undergraduate side at UAB.

In the end it will be named after Alabama Power or ServisFirst bank anyway

Get real. UAB will sell naming rights to the stadium for a million or two a year. I think plaques on the wall for the people who built it would be very appropriate though.

I think Garrison, Volker, and McCallum can be the names over the north, south, and east gates.

What he said!

Watts is finally doing the right thing! Going against the board and certainly about to get fired. Watts could leave before restoring the programs and we don't have any football fro 4-5 years! He got paid to do the dirty work but he was convinced to change course and do the right thing! Doesn't negate the damage he did. He has to pay the price for that and he will. The only naming rights Watts would get on the new stadium is the urinals - but my wife won't let me recommend that.

They are not worthy of being urinal cakes.

I don't think they have a plaque big enough to hold all of the names of FreeUAB people who were responsible for the return of football - the high visibility people who lead the charge and all of regular folks who pledged their hard earned money and/or worked their butts off for the cause. Those are the people who have earned our thanks and who, for the most part, will never be recognized. But that's okay, because in their hearts they will know they have done what is right and that they have defeated the most powerful political force in the State of Alabama.
