Below is the list of CUSA-controlled games FOX and CBS Sports added to their coverage after last years' initial release (this does not include the "FS1 or FSN" games):

*Crickets* - 0

Games moved to a "better" FOX platform - 1
-Florida Atlantic at Marshall - FCS to FS1

The numbers say otherwise. Example.
Thursday Oct 24 395K 7:00 PM UConn/ECU ESPNU
Friday Oct 25 576K 7:00 PM USF/Cincinnati ESPN2
Saturday Oct 26 137K 3:30 PM FAU/Marshall FS1

FYI: I'm not cheery picking these either. Only 6 of FS1 CUSA conference games ticked enough to show on the TV rankings.

CUSA largest game was the CUSA Championship game on ESPN2 with 725k viewers. On that same day 1.31M for Houston/Cincinnati on ESPN. All the other FS1 or Fox games that showed were Big12 games. I don't see any examples of FS1 or CBS being far superior for CUSA. As I stated earlier, we aren't getting a great or even good deal with ESPN on $ but dwarfs all the other non-P5 in viewership...not even close.

Actually all 9 of C-USA games on FS1 last year are on the tv ratings.

The UH vs Cincy game pulled good numbers on ESPN while the C-USA champ game on ESPN2 pulled better numbers than the prime time AAC game on the same channel between Temple and Tulane and also pulled better numbers than the MAC champ game in prime time the night before on the same channel. Given a good platform, C-USA can hold their own.

We'll take another step this year back to respectability breaking even, and then next year compete for the West title....Hopefully....

Tough TV schedule for CUSA members. AAC sold itself short $$$ for more exposure on ESPN. Hurts a bit now with less $$$ but long term it is best. ESPN may be the devil but it is the channel everyone watches. Casual fans are going to stumble on a AAC game on ESPN, they aren't stumbling onto games via CBS Sports or Fox Sports channels. Best of luck....fingers crossed USM comes back to the proud winning program it once was.

Not finding FS1 just confuses me. I don't know about other cable companies or satellite but here in WV, FS1 and ROOT (which airs FSN games) are both just a few channels above ESPN and ESPN2 on the expanded basic tier.

ESPNU & ESPNews (where the majority of AAC games are found) are on a sports tier you have to pay extra for along with CBS Sports, SEC Network, Big Ten Network etc. up in the 700's.

So around here it's easier to stumble across a C-USA game than it is an AAC game.

What cable/satellite provider are you using? Just curious because for me its the opposite. I have Directv and all of my ESPNS are grouped together between channels 206-209. FS1 is 219 and CBSSN is 221. So its easier for me to stumble on AAC games than it is an CUSA game. I have the Choice Package with is next to the cheapest. I get all of the ESPNS and FS1 but not CBSSN. But in order to watch any regional televised games I have to go to the 600's. I guess it all depends on your provider. How many games are aired on CBSSN?

I have read every comment in this thread and have yet to see trashing on this topic. Better yet I have read some very good dialogue. Why try and mess that up with comments like this?

Re: Temple at Tulane - I think that's one of the places where assuming that a game is in primetime means it will draw well or has more meaning. That game was up against the ACC title game, Big Ten title game and a Kansas St. at Baylor game which had meaning for the Big 12 title.

This year that ESPN2 slot is for the Mountain West title game and it will be going up against three other conference title games (ACC, Pac-12 and Big Ten).

Matt,

How much does having the CUSA championship in the negotiations help this go around? Also, does that fact we had a pretty good TV audience in the most recent CUSA championship game help at all?

So you're saying that the ECU fan's post just before mine was just for discussion? Well my bad. I didn't know that having a fan from another conference showing us his bigger numbers and pointing out our smaller numbers and leaving out a couple of items that lessened his intent was just conversation.

Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying. Re-read the post. He was using the numbers in response to another posters comments. You act as though he just started his own comment throwing out numbers to make cusa look small.

To be honest, I don't know how FOX transferred over the FB champ game to ESPN and if it is something that ESPN has rights to negotiate for separately or if FOX is negotiating for their existing package and the championship game now comes back to them.

Also don't know if FOX has to keep providing the game to ESPN as long as FOX is a rightsholder. I can check on that, but since it was a settlement for a lawsuit, no one may be allowed to comment on it.

EDIT: C-USA did not comment. Said it was due to ongoing negotiations.

Mitch Vingle posted this today. I think the finances (hoping to hit $100 million over the life of the TV deal) being discussed mean that ESPN isn't paying for the conference champ game and that money from FOX, CBSSN and ASN combines to form broadcasting rights fees today.

WKU's game at IU picked up by ESPNNews. All of out games seem like they will be broadcast nationally this year.

Why are we surprised when the team with the Hot QB is on TV? I figure that until Western gets hammered you will be on the tube.
