In discussing the budget, the president[Garrison] pointed out that scholarship costs are not actual costs because some of the accounting expense attributed to the athletic department "comes back to the university" in the form of tuition, room and board.

As Schwartz said...

Wow. Scarbinsky has come light-years from his dreary years of mail-it-in "banana pancakes" drivel. This actually sings:

A dozen years ago, Garrison didn't roll over in the face of a small but powerful group of trustees whose first thought in the morning and last prayer at night was "Roll Tide."

A dozen years ago, Garrison fought for her university rather than fighting against the people who truly cared about the school.

If we've learned anything about UAB in the last six months and change, it's this: Ray Watts is no Carol Garrison. Come to think of it, that may be at the heart of the reason that Garrison is no longer the UAB president and Watts - despite racking up almost as many no-confidence votes as Nolan Ryan no-hitters - still is.

Funny, I just learned something. That BoT meeting Scarbo wrote about? PBJ wasn't there that day for some reason. Wonder why he missed it?

There's something here that makes me think the rumors might have some strength this time: this piece has been up for 2 hours and 20 minutes as I write this, and not one single DirectComm troll has attacked it yet.

That's weird, because even if a favorable decision is coming, you'd think they'd still be trying to rehab Watts' image

Or they finally realized antagonism has gotten them no where.

Or they've stopped getting paid.

Still no trolls. It is eerie. I really thought at least a couple of them were just actual bitter basement cases doing it for their own pitiful little thrills. Appears they were ALL DirectComm hirelings. That's a surprise.
