RE: JOX this AM
Something that irks me is when I hear this comment, "if UAB starts winning consistently and more people attend games that is when you build an OCS." That is such complete BS and flawed logic. If Legion Field didn't exist when UAB started football where would the Blazers had played their games at?

UAB has the support to build it in 2012.

An OCS is a investment in the program and university and it shouldn't be dictated on wins/losses.

It won't be based on wins/losses. It will be based on attendance.

It shouldn't be based off that either. The attendance should only matter with the amount of seats you put in the stadium. If you have a football program, you need a stadium suitable for that program. Legion Field isn't suitable for UAB.

Whether or not we build an OCS will be based on money.

I disagree. It will be based on whether or not the BOT allows UAB to have one. Money isn't going to be an issue. Otherwise, UAB Football will probably fail if an OCS isn't built in the near future.

With Coach Clark at the helm, I don't think so.

Let me explain reality. They might let us have our bare bones football program back. Maybe. But they're not going to give us a stadium until we are drawing consistently strong crowds. They will build nothing hoping the crowds will come. Because they let us have a program doesn't mean they give a damn whether it succeeds or not.

We had the financing in place when it was proposed. Lack of support isn't why they killed it. They killed it because it would give the program a permanence they couldn't take back, like they did in December.

I think it was BlazerMatt who saw last December coming when the OCS was nixed in '12, and I'm pretty sure I called him a chicken little.

Matt, if you're reading this, let me be the first to apologize.

Truth be told Smaug, I think there were several people that saw last December coming. That said, I think this has been an eye opening experience that has taught us that nothing is guaranteed.
