Fine by me, since we wouldn't have gotten to go back to Charleston anyways.

This win bumped us up to 25th in the RPI. Charleston is at 18. So we'll likely both be 2 seeds. One of us heads to Nashville, the other heads to......Baton Rouge? Since Charleston is further south they may send them to Gainesville or Tallahassee. Or send us to Louisville. Who knows.

Right. Charleston was never in the cards for UNCW. This will open up a hosting spot. Things are about to get VERY interesting. I think there is a scenario or two where UNCW may not leave the state. It depends on tomorrow.

RE: Championship Saturday (Sunday if necessary)
By the way, this tournament was the quintessential example of why I never question Coach Scalf. He knows what he's doing. So many here were ready to hit the panic switch when we hit our mid-late season "lull". The best teams start strong and finish strong, and that's exactly what we did.

We're going to be a pain in the neck for whichever host team we play with our speed on the basepaths and clutch bullpen. Not to mention the apparent ascension of Evan Phillips.

Coastal lost the Big South Title to Radford today. with Radford winning both the regular season and conference title, that will end Coastal's chance to host. Thing,s continue to get more and more interesting.

For those of you not in the Seahawk Club, better join ASAP. Membership could be very, very important come 12 noon Monday.

Congratulations on being the tourney champions. If you know baseball you took advantage of our mistakes and we did not take advantage of yours. That is what normally decides who wins a game between 2 good teams I think it is good for the CAA to have 2 teams in and both with a solid chance of winning a regional. I assure you most Cougar fans will be solidly supporting you in regional play. For your really serious fans thoughts on the the tourney, the way it was ran and overall atmosphere. It was overall a lot better than any SoCon tourney I ever went to and our tourney had more fans show up than their tourney being held at the same time with 11 teams involved. I like the fact that the regular season means a lot more here and a team has to earn their way in.

Congrats to UNCW on the conference title.

You guys were too tough on NU all 4 games and your lineup and bullpen is very good.

Wish you and CofC nothing but success in NCAA's!

Best of luck to your Cougars in the Regionals as well. You all do a great job of representing the CAA. Keep it up!

Not bad considering we'd previously proven we were incapable of beating Charleston! 03-wink

Yeah man. Scalf and his staff did it again. Can't ever, ever count us out. And this team is built to get to a Super Regional now that we have one emerging starting pitcher. Couple that with our bullpen, speed, and power in the middle of the lineup.....and we're deadly.

Playing in the regional with the overall 1 seed though. Didn't really see that happening to us.

UCLA is the # 1 overall seed, but I get what you're saying. However, Charleston definitely got a more rough draw than us. The numbers bare that out:

Tallahassee, FL
1. FSU (# 9 RPI)
2. Charleston (# 17)
3. Auburn (# 22)
4. Mercer (# 107)

Baton Rouge, LA
1. LSU (# 5)
2. UNCW (# 27)
3. Tulane (# 43)
4. Lehigh (# 239)

We know all about FSU. 35th time hosting a Regional, toughest crowd in the ACC by far, premier program. LSU has hosted the 2nd most frequently (26), so I suppose that's a wash for the top seed.

Auburn won 35 games this year. Against the nation's 2ND toughest schedule. They swept a 43-win Radford team, beat OK St, took 2/3 from Ole Miss, etc. That looks like more of a 2-seed resume to me. Tulane, meanwhile, was a bubble team that went 1-2 in the AAC tournament. They didn't know for sure that they'd be here. True, they did beat us earlier in the season, but it's hard to put a whole lot of stock in a midweek game in March.

Even Mercer isn't a cupcake. They pretty much rolled through the Southern Conference. They're a significantly better 4-seed than Lehigh.

Ah crap. Yeah. That's what happens when I wake up at 4:30 am and listen to local news (who were discussing UCLA and their opponents).
