MyBB LaTech to hire Miami assistant, Eric Konkol
Oklahoma assistant Steve Henson, Miami assistant Eric Konkol, Baylor assistant Jerome Tang and North Florida head coach Matt Driscoll are among the candidates in discussions about Louisiana Tech's opening, sources told CBSSports.com on Saturday.

Louisiana Tech is in the process of replacing Michael White.

White left last week to replace Billy Donovan as Florida's head coach.

Former Louisiana Tech assistant Dusty May was also an initial candidate. But he withdrew from consideration earlier this week when he took a job on staff at Florida.

Henson is a former Kansas State star and NBA player who has spent the past 11 seasons working alongside Lon Kruger at both UNLV and Oklahoma. Konkol is considered Miami's "offensive coordinator." He's worked with Jim Larranaga at both George Mason and Miami. Tang is a longtime assistant with Scott Drew who has recruited at the highest levels. Driscoll is a former Baylor assistant who just took North Florida to the NCAA Tournament.

Assistant coaches and North Florida? head coach.

Hooten resume as a head coach with his own recruits, is more impressive than those guys on that link. IMHO

Not that there's anything wrong with any of those names but I sure thought we'd see more eyebrow-raising names.

Tech needs to go after a big fish, someone who's been to the tournament. I know where there's a Marlin available.

Too big of a move up from Marlin - needs another job before we consider him.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Perhaps he can position himself by taking the N Florida job?

I didn't say whether he'd care or not, just said he'd probably remember him. You disagree?

Offensive Coordinator and Scouting Director at George Mason. Offensive coordinator at Miami...I guess we would continue recruiting Florida.
