Watts will probably send some flunky thinking that will put them at ease

"He said the current UAB leadership is aloof."

How disgraceful.

UAB digs up streets every other week. If they give the City council the shaft they could have some project put on hold.

Someone should explain the concept of "leverage" to Stephen Hoyt.

It obviously wasn't Watts, but it sounds like someone has been bending the ear of the city government.

Glad they aren't all falling for it.

Smaug, you called this move (appropriately) a long time ago. Finally, in May, they get the memo.

So no phone,no fax,no email,no social media,no p.r. group,no legal rep,no closed doors,no plants to hide behind,no BOT....just YOU,RAY.
I just can't see him entering City Hall appearing in the Council Chambers to face the music.
Yep it is high time for a reverse blue water bottle treatment.
Here's hoping the Council delivers a FOURTH no-confidence vote.
GO AWAY RAY!

The city can put the squeeze on Punkin Head in ways we rabble could only dream of.

"What's that? You want to tear up one of OUR streets to run a steam line? Well, let's just talk about this."

Negotiation is a hell of a thing Ray. I guess they didn't teach you that while you "busted your ass" as an undergrad. Probably because it's something you learn about in the real world, something you know squat about. I hope they turn off the water and electric to the Woodward House.

RE: Bham wants to meet with Watts
I'm always a little skeptical of politicians, especially city politicians, but this has potential even if it is just political self-serving. The title "President of UAB" has(had) some serious weight behind it in Birmingham and is(was) not a safe thing to attack if you wanted to play it safe as a politician.

But now the council smells blood in the water... actually... Watts is the political equivalent of a barge of chum in the water. Imagine the political support from the Birmingham locals (and TV time) if you're the council member who causes Watts to disembowel himself on the record in front of city council. You asked the right questions that took down an unpopular university president and got UAB Football back? That's a campaign slogan for a congressional seat.

And there is minimal risk because Watts is about a popular as pubic lice.

Here's hoping for a feeding frenzy!

Plus, the punk ***** is chairman-elect of the BBA. I hope the City Council, in addition to Free UAB , makes his life a living hell. And Steven Hoyt is a joke, a major player wannabe. #GetLostHoyt

Got a feeling Hoyt is being lobbied behind the scenes. This affects his territory as well.
