Is this a maneuver to reinstate the practices by the state legislators that got some JUCO folks sent to prison a few years ago? When a former president of the Eagle Forum (Stephanie Bell) opposes a bill proposed by Republicans, it should be a "red flag" to the media and to voters. To me, it looks like the legislators are busy building new walls for a new fiefdom in this state. Also noted that the only BOE member on the new board would be the ONLY "nonvoting" member - WHY?

BTW, ALL of those prohibitions listed for those who support the Governor should be applied to those who support any legislators as well.

Its no red flag. Ms. Bell currently controls the Board that controls the 2 year colleges. This bill takes it out of her hands.

I have had my differences with Ms Bell in the past, but I don't believe her opposition should be trivialized as just power politics in transition. This law sets up a new independent BOT type of power structure that may not be a good idea. Yes, the Republican supermajority can ram it through no matter what the opposition just as they did the AAA, but that doesn't make it a good bill or a good law.
