NIU football backyard
Among all the various articles on the B1G conducting satellite camps in SEC country, much further down in this article was something that hits too close to home.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sec-feeling...ncaaf.html
Michigan, for example, will attend a camp in Pennsylvania. And Penn State is the headliner on a five-staff camp in the Chicago suburb of Naperville, Ill., on June 15. That’s about 40 miles from Northwestern and less than 150 miles from the University of Illinois campus.
Division III North Central College is the site for that camp. In addition to the hosts and the Nittany Lions, coaches from Bowling Green, Ball State and Illinois State will be on hand. North Central coach Jeff Thorne said his staff sent out an email Friday to prospects about the camp, and over the weekend 30 players signed up.
Aside from failing to note the Nittany Lions wil be 40 miles from the top Division I football school in the state, there's Bowling Green, Ball State and Illinois State horning in on our backyard.

Naperville? Oh my, PSU and the other schools must be trying to recruit for the snob factor!
We just need to return the favor and set up a camp in their backyards - assuming there's anyone there with any potential for being recruited. Better yet, set up some camps across the South - Florida, Alabama, Texas, etc.

seems like a perfect opportunity for NIU to be there - but at the same time why go to a camp so close to your own facilities to shows local recruits what you have. and if we already feel comfortable with our recruiting status in the chi area. just goes to show you that there is actually good football talent around northern ill.

I haven't heard anything about NIU attending one of these, but I would rather they go down south like Dog Fan said. If they could get to a camp in Florida, Alabama or Texas it would be ideal.

I know we did at one time have our coaches attend other camps. Would not surprise me that we still do. You dont have to advertise your tactics to everyone to be successful. Our coaches seem to be able to find real good football players by whatever they are doing.

agree, would be more beneficial to have local talent at NIU facilities for camp/jr day, etc.... with how we are always going to FL for recruits and bowl games we should make even more of a presence there or around FL/GA/AL area
