If true, it looks like Watts is rushing through the AD hire before the ATF report comes out.

What would the purpose of that (hiring AD before the report comes out) be?

Any AD hired by Watts will be universally hated. There is no way around that. Who wants THAT job?

The first task force would have been done by now if not for Watts. I think Shannon is more than capable of filling in for a bit longer.

Joe Dean Jr would want it. He would get over paid, wouldn't have to do ****, & could just go around & be his normal ass self.

Yeah, you and others will jump to conclusions that he is the wrong person by judging him on who hired him rather than look at his experience and qualifications.

Come fall I suspect I will have a new school to cheer for.

There isn't any amount of UAB's money that the BOT & Watts would not be willing to spend to cover up this stuff & end all of our opportunities to get back football.

UAB run by these people is not my UAB.

I'll hold off on forming an opinion of a man (or woman) that I haven't even heard of yet. We may need an AD in place on June 8th to find us a new league.

I have confirmed the rumor. UAB is indeed interviewing candidates today and tomorrow.

We won't have time to be kicked out of C-USA. Watts has been actively pursuing leagues for months. He is pulling us out.

I will also tell you watts will quit before he allows football to return and he is not quitting. I can only guess but I bet he is telling candidates he has no intention of bringing it back.

I will barf if Joe Dean Jr is the next AD. There is no reason for a school with the profile of UAB to hire a DIII AD (if you truly cared about UAB's best interests.)

The cynic in me would also like to point out that JD Jr has experience overseeing taking an athletic department from D1 to D3...

The June 5th date for C-USA deliberations is not a random choice. By then we will all know what the state legislature did - or did not do - for UAB. That leaves time between that decision and the end of the current school year on June 30th for all questions to be answered (like funding splits).

If Dr Watts pulls us out of C-USA before a conference decision is announced, it will be like an employee resigning rather than being fired - a cosmetic practice that really fools only those who want to be fooled.

As far as Watts pursuing other conferences, what lies will he tell to cover the fact that UAB remains totally subjugated to the Crimson Cabal in Tuscaloosa and can make no valid promises on its own word? How will he make UAB appear so attractive that a conference will overlook the "family ties" it will get with a "marriage" to UAB?

Dean doesn't even have to show up to get his paycheck.

Just do nothing as instructed by the BOT & Watts.

It is about over.

He also took them from NAIA to D1 to be fair. Taking them to D3 was not his idea. And if you want to look at the bright side. He built a football program from scratch.
