You substitute England for Mexico, which is kind of a wash. But, Texas was it's own country. Counting three different flags for Spain is a nice celebration of Spanish history, but it's got very little to do with Florida. You can really count five flags (plus variants) over Florida, but nice try.

RE: Happy San Jacinto Day!!!!
Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana can claim the Republic of West Florida...

So...

Spain
France
Great Britain
Republic of West Florida
Alabama Republic
Confederate States of America
United States

The history of the Southeastern US is pretty cool in terms of shifting political affiliations. Technically, every Southern US state can claim to have been independent before joining the Confederacy. So, if you count the Confederacy you count the independent state.

and the reverse

"Touch me not"

People love flags. Hell, I love flags and I collect them.

Texas, like New England, has its own culture. Both are unique. (?)

Texas is not Southeast or Southwest ..... it's Texas.

In line with the Texas thing, you can visit the Embassy of Texas in London. It's pretty cool.

So, your point of pride is that Florida was not important enough for them to stay?

Actually Santa Ana reportedly was not napping. According to legend, he was in bed, but busy with the original "Yellow Rose of Texas."
