Leave the Birmingham Bowl in place for the last Big East team that gets a bid every year.
I would not want to move Birmingham Bowl to a Florida site because I am assuming BE will have a new Tamp/St Pete Bowl and CUSA will have a new Florida Bowl in UCF's new stadium.
I am well aware Mobile hosts other football games....and hosts them very well. That is my basis for moving it to Mobile.
Is Birmingham getting a domed stadium? I know it has been proposed many times but did it get final approval?
I dont see any new bowl game at UCF stadium...
But UCF's President and their new AD (former CEO of the Orange Bowl) do!
I have not seen anything on having one from them or anyone else other than on message boards..
That's correct. There has been absolutely nothing discussed by UCF's President, UCF's AD, and CUSA officials about Florid aBowl or any other bowl developments. CUSA runs a tight lips operation in contrast, for example, MWC.
No CUSA fan had any inkling of a Birmingham Bowl until it was announced. There was no discussions printed in the news about moving the Mobile Bowl date until it was announced. The new Atlanta Bowl Game (Big 10 vs ACC) hit the news when it was a done deal. That is the frustrating part being a football fan...you would like to know what is happening behind the scenes. That there is nothing in the press about bowl discussions and proposals doesn't mean that there is nothing happening.
BE Commish Tranghese made a public remark that was reported and posted onthis board that....in the next round of negotiations, the BE will be positioned to upgrade and improve its bowl situation. No doubt there are discussions going on about bowl deals by the various conferences.
As a reminder, Tulsa vs UCF in Orlando drew 51,000+ plus fans in CUSA's first Conference Championship Game. I think that proved that UCF/Orlando would support another bowl, a CUSA bowl, and that it would be well supported.
If I were a UCF alumni and fan, I would want a bowl just to further UCF's goals and ambitions. For example, on the CUSA board, an article was posted about UTSA (University of Texas-San Antonio) wanting to establish a IA football team and, as part of that effort, to put in an after XMAS Bowl in the Alamo Dome. It is easy to see the thinking here...one effort boosts the other.
