I'm not sure I'd say Lake Elsinore is greater LA (although to be honest I've never been there and it's been awhile since I actually lived in LA. But it kind of seems akin to say that Bryan-College Station is greater Houston.

Lake Elsinore is in Riverside County, which is not part of the LA metro area as defined by the census bureau, but is part of the larger LA combined statistical area (CSA). The latter is roughly the size of South Carolina.
