There needs to be a extensive, rectal exam-like examination of finances at UA and UAB. What's going on is ridiculous. And there seems to be no end in sight...

While Shirley Kahn is pumping millions into her pal's pocket, how many UAB (or UA System as a whole) adjunct faculty are receiving public assistance because their pay is so low? Nationally the figure is 25 percent.

This is bull****.

$18k per month as a consultant? Medical residents only get like $40k a year to learn how to save lives. No marketing person is worth that much per month at a public entity.

Kahn is laundering money through Bruno. This is disgusting, and criminal. It has to end. This has to stop NOW.

I keep telling folks, this isn't about football, it's about money. All this crap is small potatoes. The prize is the medical system. That's what they are after. Divest that from UAB and all those millions in administrative fees that currently help fund the undergrad side of UAB will be free to be spent elsewhere.

As usual (for a national paper), the author's figures - and conclusions - are based on figures drawn from national or local northern state numbers. AVERAGE figures may not be factual in any state (2 "A"s and 2 "D"s can "average" a "C+" or a "B-"- a grade not actually made at all).

Administrative costs can explain some of this expense but keep in mind that - at least in Alabama - no public university admits any student for whom it does not have an existing desk in an existing classroom. There are no "portable classrooms" as one sees around the state at many K-12 schools. As we have seen in articles about UA, there are few who can or will question the employment of administrators by those deemed to be above public scrutiny.
