I'm sure Hasse has had his name misspelled before, but I will apologize to him, not to you.
You're a bit mixed up on your facts - Cliff Ellis coached at Clemson from 1984-1994 BEFORE he coached at Auburn 1994-2004. After he resigned from Auburn he didn't get another coaching job until 2007 when he landed at Coastal Carolina, hardly an upgrade.
Obviously you have nothing of substance to refute my comments. Perfectly understandable.
I never asked you to apologize to me. You don't even have to apologize to Haase. Just asking you to spell it correctly.
And you are right. I made a mistake. Cliff Ellis did coach Clemson before Auburn. I will not apologize to you, but will apologize to Cliff Ellis the first chance I get.
You obviously have nothing of substance to say. Perfectly understandable.
You may place me back on ignore.
You are already on my "ignore list". I just opened up you comments on this topic to see if you had anything of substance to say on the subject (occasionally you do) or if your were just being your ole snarky self. I should have known better. My bad! It it won't happen again. You can now douche with impunity. Frankly my dear.......

Auburn isnt doing home and home. I think we should all come to terms with that. The question then becomes, would you rather have auburn on the schedule for four years, or not?
NOT!!!

RE: UAB-Auburn Basketball Series
I had never been to a UAB game at the BJCC before this year's CUSA tournament. I thought it was pretty cool. I actually agree with some sentiments that Memphis posted a while back. It seems that holding a game or two every year at the BJCC would help to solidify UAB's status as "Birmingham's Team" and get some people out that might not come to Bartow for a game. Having a game there also gives it a feel of a "big time" game, that Bartow sometimes lacks (unless it's packed out and rockin'). I would be all for playing Auburn at the BJCC. If they are bullying us into taking all the money from the game or something crazy like that, then I'd say no. But I still think we should try to incorporate playing a game a year at the BJCC. We definitely need to keep wearing the "Birmingham" jerseys, as well. I love those.
I also agree with blazers9911 in that we need all the RPI boosting games we can get. Auburn will continue to improve, and provide us one of those games. Even if Pearl were to trash talk us in the recruiting circles for not accepting a home for home or for accepting an "unequal" series, the best way to prove who the best in the state is to challenge and beat the big boys in the state. That would get us brownie points in the recruiting trails more than any perceived slight about accepting one less game at home in a series with Auburn, IMO. I doubt any recruits are even that cognizant of scheduling to realize what you guys are saying and jump to the conclusion of being slighted.

With respect to your opinion, come to turns with nothing. Its a matter of control. By submitting to anyone or thing, it shows you as subordinate.
If you believe UAB basketball is subordinate to Auburn and Auburn should call the shots, more power to you.
I believe UAB is old enough and recognizable enough in the state of Alabama as a good basketball program to be treated equally to every basketball program in this state.
I believe we should act like we are the equal or better than every program in this state.
Why have we not played Samford, Alabama A&M, Alabama State or Jacksonville H&H, could it be because we believe we are a superior program.
Would it not be good for the state of Alabama basketball if UAB went H&H with those basketball programs also.
No Auburn H&H or a Neutral site.
I get what you are saying, but auburn has the upper hand here. They play in a power conference, and they don't have to play UAB. It helps us to play auburn, especially if they improve like we all think they will. Would I rather have the home and home? Sure. Would I kill a potential series by drawing a line in the sand on this? I don't think so.
Exactly...Auburn is a charter member of a Power 5 (SEC) conference...C-USA is a 1-bid league and we are in limbo...hopefully after one more year in C-USA we will be in the MVC...Pearl will have Auburn going strong in the VERY near future and imo we need this game...it's vs an in-state SEC team/we played 17 times between 1983 and 1999...it's a no-brainer...and back in the day MANY more UAB-Auburn games were played in Birmingham than in Auburn...home and home is what everyone wants and I get it - but it's not gonna happen at this time...the series helps everyone involved and UAT is not included (you know the very folks that killed UAB football) which makes it even better... the enemy of my enemy is my friend...UAB and Auburn should play in every sport imo...we need to stop messing around and ink this series.

Any mid-major that finished in the top three of its conference on Pearl's radar, with UAB remaining a strong possibility, if not a likely opponent.
There is a deal "in principle," according to Pearl, for a four-game series with two games in Auburn and two in Birmingham, with one of the two likely off campus. The holdup remains on UAB's end, where the program is awaiting a decision from Conference USA as to its affiliation in light of the school's decision to dissolve its football program.
"I just think it would be a great series," Pearl said, "and something the fans in the state would enjoy."

RE: UAB-Auburn Basketball Series
As I recall, it was Cliff Ellis who reported the interference by their BOT in AU BB affairs that drew the SACS action and resulted in his exit. Being right doesn't necessarily mean you will be popular. I believe Pearl wants to play UAB, but he wants to play them as a D1 series and is waiting to see what this summer (beginning with 6/5/15) will bring for UAB's programs. He wants to play someone in North Alabama and UAB is his first choice if it remains D1.

What do you mean IF UAB remains D1? Even Ray Watts wants to keep UAB basketball D-I... even if we don't have a conference next year, UAB will still be D-I. If you read the article and every post after it, you would know the hang-up is UAB's potential conference schedule & Pearl using "conference affiliation" as a negative recruiting tool against UAB.

Man's got a point. There are a lot of ifs and unknowns out there. And right now, UAB may stay D1 but eho knows. All of us are speculating. I don't think we'll drop from D1, but no one thought all of this would be happening either.

1. He doesn't have a point.
2. Agree with there are a lot of if's and unknowns but.....
3. UAB isn't going to leave Div 1 status.
4. I'm not speculating.
5. And not everyone thought football was immune to being shutdown. When some of said anything remotely close about the program being shutdown, we were told to shut up and move along.
